First, Congrats on being a national champion.
I'm a (Coe College) Kohawk fan who has had to deal with the "humble" folk of Bremer County...
I'm curious as to why you and so many of your friends transferred out of Waverly?  I have often heard that W'burg "over-recruits" so that when freshmen get to camp, they "discover" that their chances of playing anytime soon are nil.  Has to be frustrating.  Would you say this is an accurate reason why most guys leave there or are there other reasons?   i.e. I know the HC has the personality of a doorknob and the town of Waverly is pretty small potatoes.  Anything else?
Personality of a doorknob? Really? Have you ever had a conversation with the guy? Have you met many of the other IIAC coaches. A lot are cut from the same cloth. Perhaps since Willis wins more than any of them, that makes him have the personality of a doorknob.
Sure Waverly isn't Cedar Rapids or Dubuque, but neither is Storm Lake, Pella, Decorah, Mt Vernon or Indianola.
Wartburg's approach to recruiting has been hashed and re-hashed on the boards since d3fb.com came into existence.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Glad to see the talk is back to football!! ...think I really counted snaps hahaha(not that a wartburg alum could have, they have never played in a title game).  Bottom line...2008 Warhawhks WR's are gonna tear apart Wartburg's Manute Bol safety and their LB who resembles Webster!! UWW's oline pounds the rock all day and AA and the L train run for over 300 yards.  Whitewater in a laugher...44-10.  but you guys already knew that right??  Culver's crew....remember the free meal!!

I'm glad that you found a match in your transfer to WW. Sounds like both schools are better for your leaving Waverly. I'm also sure that the personal attacks on Wartburg's players will strike fear into their hearts. Or maybe they will just put them up on the bulletin board to show how much respect they are getting. I know the Knights are looking at this as the biggest game they have ever played and are treating it as such.

I don't think anything said on these boards are getting put up as posts in their locker room.  Coaches and players on these teams don't care what goes on in this discussion board.  You think Jace Rhindal or Rusch are gonna play harder because someone says something about them on a D3 board...you got something else comin.  The guys are as focused and relaxed as every game all year!

I think BV players are the only ones that take what is said on these boards to heart (and reply to them  ::) )

Ya, hopefully, they're not that relaxed!   ;D

If we make as many stupid mistakes against Wartburg as we did against Stevens Point it will us who are in for a long day.  On paper we have the better team but games aren't played on paper.  They are played on football fields and that can have a way of altering the paper version.

Preparing the field has been a challenge.  Evidently you can't just attach a brush to your John Deere and brush it off because it will remove the rubber pellets and damage the turf.  First they had to take PVC piping and place it over the the blade of a snowplow and then they had to follow that up by purchasing a special kind of brush (don't ask me what's special about it) that is designed to remove the excess without removing the rubber pellets.  Plus the equipment they use is also in use removing snow from the rest of the campus so scheduling is impacted.  I'm sure J Betz will have the field ready but I suspect he's hoping we don't get anymore snow before Saturday night.

I'm one of the guilty posters, fbf413 - asking about injuries - mainly because I live so far away from the action...but I can assure you, rarely has anybody ever answered one of my requests for information...after your warning, I'm sure no one will ask in the future!!  ;)

No problem, BoBo, as long as you now see the error of your ways!   ;) :D ;D

In one of our HS playoff games this year we got a couple inches of snow and they were out before hand on the Fieldturf with the same brush they normally use to groom the surface. It wasn't snowing super hard before the game, but by the time the poor guy was done, you couldn't see the field at the other end again. By the third time, the snow had let up enough to see the field again.

Wow alot has gone on since I last posted.  I wont even talk about the public and private cause its a total waste of typing.

Wartburg is simply outmatched.  In my opinion in general the Iowa conference isnt that great.  If Wartburg's LB's are undersized than it will be along day for Wartburg.

As for a 2 back set I really dont get it.  Anderson who has been great the last two games should get the bulk of the carriers and when he needs a spell Coppage should relieve him until 100%.

When they are both healthy the better of the 2 should start.  No reason changing a very good offense in the middle of the year.

Never meant to imply that the change to a 2 back system should happen this weekend but AA is a sophmore and Coppage, a freshman.  Like I said, doubt it will every happen but there is sound reasoning behind the idea.

Perhaps Wartburg, or IIAC fans, visiting our board this week would be unaware of the official WARHAWK football team's website WARHAWKfootball.com.  It's maintained by Voice.  This week there are some interesting writeups on the game,  WARHAWK players, Wartburg's football team and most recently Jeff Schebler, an Iowa native who was heavily recruited by Wartburg.  I thought I'd provide you with a link if you would like to check it out.

I'm sure your question has been answered a million times on the IIAC board - I invite you to go back & check the archives!!  ;)
Geez.   Actually, I was interested in Champs07's situation there.  I know others who have had some issues there.    Wartburg "over-recruits?" - Is that sour grapes from a Coe fan?
No, not at all.  Over-recruiting  by 'burg is common knowledge around the IIAC, I think.
Actually, my son was recruited and offered a better package from 'burg than where he ended up.  For him, it wasn't about the money.  Just wondering if Champs07 had a similiar experience?
In the words of Bobby Knight: "I mean, I deeply hope we beat their ass today."
