Floyd in Iowa City

"Loras over Luther - Luther struggled against BV "D", Loras is a little tougher. Luther got pounded on by BV "O", Loras not as strong...Loras squeaks it out in the end."

Show,

I would hate to hear what you would say about Luther if B.V. had beaten Luther by a touchdown! :)  With the Luther Offense struggling and the Luther Defense getting pounded on, I am surprised the Beavers didn't win by 30 with about 650 yards total offense. ;D  It is a big game with the Storm this week.

Luther is not playing as well the last couple of weeks as they were earlier in the season, but it is the last home game for the Norse and I would expect a better effort in the trenches even though they are playing a much better defense this week.  The Luther-Loras game has been pretty tight over the years no matter how good both teams are.  Turnovers have been a huge statistic when these teams get together.

If we do get two into the playoffs we can be sure that the #2 IIAC team will be heading to McMinnville OR. in the first round.  The #1 IIAC team won't get higher than a five seed.

coocoo :
if you send someone to McMinnville PLEASE send central ;D

Dessert Cat 1,

Most likely you'll see Coe in Oregon.

Does it matter who the mighty Wildcat's draw?
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

DF'04 -- the ranking system is very subjective. To quote D3football.com's own site, "The D3football.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly." The SOS or Quality of Win category factors in statistical data on each team, opponent, etc. in determining the inherant "quality" or "level of difficulty," etc. The SOS is based on stats, supposedly blind of subjectivity. For more info on the QOW system, check out the site at: http://www.d3football.com/qow.php which provides the formula.

Clear as mud, right? ;)

Our Top 25 panel has no bearing on the NCAA's regional rankings. Those are produced by (gasp!) the NCAA.

That was ancient history.  Your most loyal fans remember, but your team was in high school worrying about acne and girls when the mud-bowl happened.

Time to move on.

This Wildcat likes the IIAC, and I just hope you get 2 teams in the playoffs, so if it works out as we hope, we can have a return visit from some of you Iowans.

Thanks for the Elliott support in the voting, too.

Floyd - Struggled as in turnovers and pounded as in running the ball.  Needed to clarify I suppose! ;)

Pat,

So what does the NCAA in their wisdom look at.  I know that my mind may be clouded as I am a Dutch supporter but I try to be objective too.  The regional rankings looked to me that it was just put there with a blindfold on.  They don't even closely follow the AFCA's top 25.  Do you have any idea what they use to rank the teams?

Pat,  I believe there is a panel of coaches from each region that will agree upon the top teams from their region and then submit to the NCAA.  They talk weekly on a conference call starting in the fourth or fifth week of the season.  Anyone else know anything further?  UW Whitewater may be shipped out of our region........because of Linfield and St John's also being in the west.

I don't see how you can keep Central, with their wins over Bethel, Augustana, and possibly Wartburg out of the playoffs.  Look for the Dutch to leap frog Whitworth if they beat Wartburg.  The Dutch should also remember that the Kohawks are not a lock to beat Loras or Simpson.  They could get the automatic qualifier if they win out.

CooCoo,

Let's worry about the Rams first and not mention the P-word until we get there.    We can then worry about Loras........and then Simpson!   I can truly appreciate your excitement but why speculate, let's enjoy each week and not put extra pressure on our beloved Kohawks.  You know they read this board like all the other teams.

Do you hear that Kohawks? Keep your focus on the Rams!
