Are there any Buena Vista folks out there?  If not how about Central?  I hope Central doesn't have any false hopes about the BU game this year.

Warthog - I agree with everything you just said.

I just checked Loras' soccer schedules, and they have no games (matches, whatever they call them in soccer) scheduled for the Rock Bowl this fall.  But the website about the RB renovation makes it sound like they will be playing the other football there someday.

"The two renovations to this facility with the most impact will include replacing the grass field with state-of-the-art Field Turf®, which will mean the soccer teams also can play in the Rock Bowl, and the addition of stadium lighting to allow for night games."

I could only think of two reasons for letting the soccer teams play on the new field:  1) Less wear on the current soccer field, or 2) possibility of night-time soccer games.

Being a Loras guy. I can help to shed some light on this soccer thing. I would imagine the soccer team can play in the Rock Bowl. Loras would give the soccer programs a new and improved facility, but being locked in amongst all those homes and hills it doesn't make it possible.

As much as I hate soccer lines on a football field, I know one thing, at least the Duhawks did one thing right... FIELD TURF and not FAKE TURF like Simpson put in.

Thefreebird - Yeah, there're a few of us BV/Central people out here.  Ready to make a sweep of Bethel this year...

HI all from illinois.  I apolgize for not keeping up to date and all but i have taken a varsity coaching position and as many of you know it can get a little busy.  Can anyone give me a quick recap of the last few weeks so i  am not turning pages for years on this?  I do remember reading about the Loras' new turf being close to being put down and completed, this will definently be a big attraction to some new recruits in the future, as wartburg may know already.  I am looking forward to getting a closer look into this board and hopefully Ok well i have to get going, have fun and good luck to all the teams and of course, GO DUHAWKS!!!
Ok Ok ok lets just take this one foot at a time.....

It's interesting you don't claim one of those teams.  Will you be waiting to see who loses by the least before you do that?

From what I remember Central was a pretty good team last year.  Capitalizing on our special teams mistakes which were plentiful.  I heard BV lost 9 starters on defense though.  Is there any truth to that?

There's only eight pages on the board so far. If you can't make that much of an effort then I'm not sure there's much hope for you.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

thehouse76

ok, i figured these pages were like a thousand replies long.  I agree with the many people on the topic of Loras' new turf.  As i said earlier, I think that the new turf may sway some good athletes to commit to Loras.  I havent heard much about Luther, but many seem to think they will be a surprise team this year, what do they have that is so great?

I'm interested in any opinions on whether any of you guys think Dubuque will be able to challenge for the championship. New Offense, Solid defense and great team speed. They could be a sleeper. Don't overlook them

Pakk

Dubuque challenging for a championship?  That's a new one to me.  I graduated in 95, but when we played Dubuque our only goal for the week was to score more points on defense than they did on offense.  It was usually a 0-0 tie or we won.  Is dubuque getting better?

Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag, Walston! LOL  I guess most of my pro-BV posts were on the old message board, so it was a secret to any newbies.  I wonder if he can figure out who dutchfan1 cheers for???

Here's BV's season preview:  http://www.bvu.edu/athletics/headlines/headline.asp?id=587  I won't make you work that hard for it, plus there's a link at the bottom for all of the IIAC schools' previews.

vinnyboy - Thanks for the warning on Dubuque... ;D
