Walston Hoover

When you ask is Connell all he's built up to be what do you mean.  I haven't seen anyone building him up.  He makes pretty good decisions.  He hasn't had over one INT per game.  He had not fumbled all year till last week.  By that I mean from running the ball.  He has had one or two bad center snaps that were fumbles and I think he lost one of those.  He is not flashy.  He does not put up big numbers, but I think he just gets done what needs to get done.  He is a blue collar kind of guy.  He'll do what ever the team needs him to do.  If they need him to run he leads that option, needs to hand it off to Schuring then he does that, if they need him to throw the ball then he'll find an open guy.  If I remember correctly it was a 14-10 game last year and came down to the wire.  I think in some ways that this years defense is better than last years.  So it should be a great game.

How has his decision-maiking been when faced with a lot of pressure?
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

coocooforcoekohawk

I was more impressed by Connell than any other Dutch player during the Kohawk game.  He seemed to handle the pressure well.  There were two big pass plays that the receivers dropped, otherwise Connell would have won that game for the Dutch.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I was at the Coe-Wartburg game and say the number of hits their QB took during the game.  The 7 sacks were nothing compared to the other 30 hits he took.  Obviously it had some effect as the Coe QB did not play the next week.  Connell will be lucky to make it through the entire game.  Central's Oline better be preparing for Wartburg's blitzes or it will be a long day for Connell.

WH -- I think that Connell will handle the pressure fine. He's shown he has the ability to finess plays under pressure. And we both know, anything can happen at the Wartburg/Central game. I will guarantee that Central is more prepared this year than we have been the last four. I think the Knights will have more than they can handle this weekend.

By the way, WH, my Orange-clad co-worker delivered your message.

As a long time poster on this board, I was quite happy to see dowjone$ and his excitement for the Spartan Nation, but I guess I need to be the first one to say, comments like the following have no place on this board

"Now Back to the war, Yo, I mean this from the bottom of my heart, FUK LORAS as a team, institution, and as a crew, and if you want to be down with Loras then Fuk U 2. New coaches faculty staff and especially students present and future!!!"

I have not seen anyone from any other school talk that kind of smack and for good reason. That is not good natured ribbing I know that for sure. Good natured ribbing is me making fun of Simpson's fake turf and getting an e-mail from their SID. That is fun.  Say what you will about me, but I am willing to bet that several people on here are with me.

I will wait for the words of dowjone$ to come crashing down upon me

qbdriver

I'm with you on that one Confused77.  This guy is probably some little punk that talks big and thinks he's a real man because he can use profanity on a chat board.  ""Boy he really got us all good on that one, and the fact that he's a big Chi-town man"  It just gives all hardworking guys from UD a bad name to be associated with such a sap.  And the fact that he pretends to be somewhat religious in some of his other posts.....he is definitely a disgrace to the IIAC.     Warpig?  Warthog? Dutchfan?

Confused77

I can just see all the Wartburg and Central fans saying those things to each other on this board tomorrow.....Oh wait...that would never happen

Confused77 & qbdriver:

I agree with you concerning dj$.  I've tried to ignore him and hope that the web-master would just cut him off.

I've heard, seen and done almost everything, but self respect keeps me from writing about it on a public web-site.

You are right Confused77, you won't see Wartburg and Central fans writing those things to one another.  Then again you won't see the fans from most IIAC schools wasting their time groveling in the gutter.

The bottom line is that losers attract losers.

Warthog- I am in 100% agreement.  I am now done with the subject.

Confused77 and Warthog,

I agree with you both.  This is no forum to be crude language.  You can get your points across without using that type of language.  I'm sure that we will have a good game this Saturday.

Wow! Miss a day and you miss a lot. Maybe kicking off this week's picks will lighten the mood.

Simpson will take care of Waldorf at home.
Luther gets a road win at Cornell.
Dubuque takes the long bus ride to BV (preferably, dragging Dow Jones behind) but the Beavers prevail

and the games of the week...

Coe at Loras -- the Duhawks have a great D but not much O, the Kohawks have a solid but unheralded D and an explosive O. On balance, I give Coe the edge.

and here's where I might surprise you...

while my heart is certainly with Central this week and I do expect it will be a close game, I think home field advantage and two weeks of rest are huge for Wartburg. I really hope to be wrong on this one, but I pick the Knights to win a tight one.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

It is hard to decide on which game to go see this weekend.  I think I might mosey on over to Walston Hoover for what might be the IIAC game of the year.  Although I would also like to see the new and improved Rock Bowl.  This is a tough call.

I agree with you guys 110% -- most of the fans in here carry themselves with class and grace. We have a lot of self respect (that keeps us from posting things like DowJone$ posted) and we have a lot of credibility and respect for one another. I like his excitement, but I don't think he is getting his point across the best way possible -- and he is losing respect because of it. One of the things the IIAC is known for is having classy fans....I'd hate to say that even that isn't true anymore.

Oh, how I miss the likes of SpartanWilley and Spurrier.....

coocoo,

The Rock Bowl is really a nice field now.  I think that the Rock Bowl is the most scenic football field.  The new press box and concession stand is really a great facility.  As far as the picks  I think Simpson, Luther, Coe (but only if Coe wins the turnover battle) and Central in a very + or - 3 point game.
