Airborne Dutch

Captain Obvious here, this is the first game for the Dutch that the passing attack hasn't worked. Mac knows this offense well enough to start making good adjustments. On the defensive side, DeWaard is gonna warm that locker room up. However, in the past, RBs who have had good first half success against the Dutch usually haven't put up the same stats in the second half. Definitely looking for that to be true here. Question for everyone: How is it that Mt. Union is so good? Are the Ohio schools just that talented or what is it?

What's up with Central's live stats?  I got this message...that's plain sad

"Live stats are unavailable during the second half of the football game due to the women's basketball game.. "

I got the same message, rediculous.

Central is pulling the live stats feature because they need the stat computer at the women's basketball game that tips off at 3:30.

Its womens basketball!!! How does that trump football...honestly.
welcome to title IX

SUMMIT!!!!!

you beat me to the punch G& B BU

Hopefully, they put final stats up faster than they did last week (I think it was Monday before they got around to it)...is that normal in IA?

Im looking for turnovers to decide this game as that was how the first half was decided, Bethel fumbled like 5 or 6 times...we need to get some of those.

There was alot of debate about that this week on the miac board. I really don't know much about it, but from what was said on the board, it sounds like they get some guys who were d1 caliber, and then got injured and the D1 teams lost interest, so they went to Mount, with d2 football apparently not being as big a deal out there as it is here.  Obviously other factors are involved, great coaches, recruiting etc.

Larry Kehres does an outstanding job recruiting very talented players, plain and simple.  The man has a serious eye for ability.  It also doesn't hurt having won 9 national titles over the past 14 years to boost the recruiting classes.  Every year (except going into this year) it seems that Mount is going to have to replace key players and they seem to never rebuild, just reload.
They should have practiced harder.

How windy is it in Pella?  Which way's it blowing?

Yes, Mount has some transfers.  One of their major offensive weapons is a transfer.  Players that have D-IAA or D-II talent that may not get to play as much at that level may look to Mount because they get to play and play for titles.
They should have practiced harder.

I have no doubt that Kehres is an excellent coach and the National Championships definitely speak for themselves. I know Central has acquired some guys who were at the D1 Level (Doud was at ISU for a season, Huisman was at Iowa for a season or two, and Schuring played one season at Truman State-not D1 but a step below), but for Mount to be able to get a lot of D1 caliber guys, thats amazing. That must be one helluva recruiting pitch.

There are a variety of things.
1.) A great coach
2.) Great Asst. Coaches who use MUC as a springboard to get a head coaching job.
3.) Great pool of players. Some players could have played D1 but for a variety of reasons play for MUC. Read variety of reasons being staying close to home to be close to parents or grandparents with health issues or players who had interests for D1 then got hurt SR. year in HS & had scholarships pulled from D1 schools.
4.) There has to be a "perfect storm" to beat MUC Read: SJU 2003.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

You'd think with all the DI and DIAA schools out there, the good talent would have plenty of offers.  But then again, Mount's probably not far from Pitt, Philly, Cleveland, Cincy.....lots to choose from out there!

Compare it with Central's roster - lots of kids from A, 1A, 2A, and 3A schools......seems like a lot of the 4A kids typically don't look at IIAC schools, for some reason.

raiderfan1983

I have no in on the Mount coaching staff, so I can't say if they do in fact recruit players who could play at a higher level of college football.  Mine is just an opinion of a fan who's been watching the program for a long time and have to think that some of the players I've seen could've played elsewhere.
They should have practiced harder.

Is Coach Wright out clearing the field???
