Charlie,

Why would you think that posing a question about whether to run the ball or pass the ball would undermine the team.  I'm not giving away the play book here, I'm just chatting about football.  You need to chill out a little and stop thinking we are part of a top secret network of Kohawks.  I've never played football so what kind of insight could I possibly exuviate to other teams.  If anything posing this question would only get Loras second guessing all the game film they have been studying.  If division III players can't deal with what is going on in this chat room then how do division I athletes deal with what is said on ESPN and what the myriad of other pundents have to say on sports shows.  Also, are you off the clock or is Coe paying you when you go to the Chrome Horse on thursdays, I'm sure your boss would like to know, or do you drive over with Breitbach.  Some of us don't have the luxury to get to the quaterback club and get paid to go.  To answer your question, yes I would ask Raeburn why he would not run the ball more, especially at the Wartburg game.  What is the harm in doing so.  I wouldn't ask him today, but a day or two after the game, sure I would.  In closing, if you have a problem with me on this chat room send me an e-mail, don't go complaining to Chandler.

All Right, it's a great day for football.  Let's get rolling:

Simpson - the Storm will be the fifth team this year to hold Waldorf to exactly THREE points!!
Coe - The Duhawks give them a run for the money early, but the Kohawks ride out the storm
BV - Beavers contain the suddenly reborn Spartan offense
Luther - Cornell is certainly struggling right now

Game of the Week:

Quick trivia question (that I don't even know the answer to) -- Who was the last team to beat Central five years in a row?

Wow!! I don't know, but it could happen today.  I do know this: The Dutch are not going to roll over and take this thing lightly.

A Conference Title...Playoffs...Pride -- It's all on the line today.  I'm taking the Knights in a squeaker:

All right Dutch!  Way to go, boys!  And we didn't leave any doubt today, either!  AWESOME!

To paraphrase Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons, "Worst Wartburg athletics weekend EVER!"  Between the VB team going one-and-done at the IIAC tournament, both soccer teams losing to Loras today, and the whooping Central dropped on the football team, things were bad all around.  Add crappy weather and the Iowa loss into the equation and I think there might be a run on rope and razor blades in Waverly tonight.

Knights really hurt themselves with turnovers and special teams miscues today.  Hammes played a great ball game, possibly his best all season, but it was squandered because the passing game was pitiful and the special teams were even worse.

Gotta give Central a lot of credit.  Dutch played with a lot of emotion and seemed to know just where and when to apply the pressure.  They were oppurtunistic, and were able to put the thing away fairly convincingly.  Schuring and Connell both impressed me.  At this point, I'd much rather see the Dutch in the playoffs over Coe.  I think Central is a more complete team, and a win in a big game in November means more to me than to win in a big game in mid-September.

Sounds like sour grapes SportKnight.........    You and your classless teeshirts about TeKippe.  Nice touch.  See you next year when we return 17 starters.  10 on offense.

Congrats to Coe for the win at the Rock Bowl.  In my earlier post this week I said it was not going to be easy.  Loras has a good football team.  Congrats.

Dutchfan 2004,

you were right, it was a tough game.  I didn't make it to the game but listened to "Thurney" the whole game through and it was tough. Coe didn't get the lead until the fourth quarter.

Sportsknight,
I hope Central gets into the playoffs, they are getting better and better every weekend.  I'm just glad we got them early in the year.  I think the IIAC has a good chance to get two teams in the playoffs.

First off about the Wartburg game.  Dan Hammes is a horse.  Its to bad that he has had so many injuries this year.  He is just a great back.  He ran really hard the first half.  The Dutch special teams got it done today.  Three count them THREE blocked punts one for a TD.  That really took the wind out of Wartburg's sales.  A 14-10 half time lead for Wartburg and Wartburg did have a 14-3 lead till a kick return by Brett Doud right after Wartburg scored the second TD.  That really helped the Dutch keep the ship afloat.  The Dutch had their chances but didn't score in the first half.  Then the blocked on Wartburg's first posession of the the second half really set the tone for the second half.  With the Dutch taking a 17-14 lead Wartburg seemed to be nervous and edgy and not focussed.  Schuring started runnning the ball harder the second half and I think it shocked the Knights.  Turnovers were won by the Dutch.  The wartburg posters kept asking about Connell's poise and if he could take the pressure.  He got hit but gave up no sacks.  He did get picked off twice in the first half, but Reed Hoskins gave up two picks as well in the game.  To me Hoskins was the one in the second half losing his poise maybe thats biased but he seemed to have happy feet.

So, here is a question kohawk nation will be pissed at me for asking.

Say Central and Coe both lose next weekend and Wartburg wins, who goes to the playoffs?

I believe the answer is Coe.
