Thanks for the link Devine. I was a DB coach this year for the first time so I had been studying up and going to clinics all offseason in preparation for it. That also involved demonstrating a few times.

Also, if any former players are interested and want the opportunity to get paid to play-

LOL -- I'm working on my kicking game so that I can try out.  ;D

I have been checking the Central web site for weeks in anxious anticipation of seeing who they would schedule for non-conference games.  Finally today I see it is Lakeland in Pella and Albion in Michigan.   Yawn.
Rex-

I agree regarding the non con, but I think its interesting the Wartburg game will be the 2nd game of the season AND it still comes after a Central bye week AND it is homecoming.  Personally, I like the Wartburg being in November, but I guess its fun to start the year off w/ the conference championship game...  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

There was a small picture and blurb about Freddy today in the USA Today.
Evidently, he's the first  D3 player to start a game since 2000.  nice work him.

Pat, any idea who the player was in 2000 and what position he played? Was it  RJ Bowers?  didn't he play for the cowboys for a bit?

Walston, There was also a huge picture of Wiegmann on the same page and a nice article about how he doesn't get much credit for the kind of player he is.  He has taken 7000 consecutive snaps dating back to Sept 01' I believe for the chiefs.  For an un-drafted free agent, he's made a nice 12 yr career for himself.

It's always nice to see the IA boys representing.  Kampman, Vandenbosch, Wiegmann, Freddy, Meester, Dallas Clark, etc.  Freddy technically isn't an iowa boy since he's from TX, but Coe is close enough.  The funny thing about all of these guys minus freddy.  they are all from a 2-A or 1-A school.

where are all of these super 4-A players at?  oh that's right, if they don't get a scholarship to Iowa or ISU they just join a frat and waste away.

That is interesting about the Central-WB game being the 2nd week.  Since I can remember- 98', hasn't that game always been the last game or 2nd to last game of the year?

Why are they messing with it now?   I guess the one advantage is whomever loses that game that early, it could help them get in the playoffs easier if they run the table.

Losing very late in the season is never a good thing.

Walston,

it just goes to show how versatile you are.  A college o-lineman coaching DB's up.  very impressive.

as far as your safeties, they really don't need to practice their back-pedal.
They just need to practice their step-step  :)

The stat was first D3 player to start a game at running back since 2000 and the first to record a 100-yard game since 1998.

I believe the player was Chris Warren, a fourth round draft pick out of Ferrum by Seattle in 1990. In 2000, he started one game for Philadelphia. In 1998, he had a 100-yard rushing game for Dallas.

Wow.... settle down, Doolittle -- we have a long off season ahead of us. We all need to keep ourselves entertained somehow...  ;) LOL

Only 239 days, 23 hours and 28 more minutes to go....

Speaking of off-season.  I think it will help all of us on here that the the IIAC now has spring practice.  It will let us talk about real football info.

Hopefully each school will put some stories and pictures up on their websites regarding the practices.
