I think that its hilarious that a Beaver, Knight, and Spartian are the people talking about this.

Where is CK and the supporting cast of Coe followers?  Maybe CK was scared off after the tiff in mid December between the Knight followers.

Maybe the school does not give a crap if he leaves, maybe the reason that Suckow left are reasons that the college doesnt care if he leaves.  Any way you slice it, you do not lose top talent in their senior year, and a coach with his track record should be more activily pursued my his institution.
Maybe we're just waiting to see how this plays out. Personally, I have the utmost admiration for Eric Raeburn and what he has done for the Coe football program.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

My take on Raeburn comes from a couple of current players. He didn't seem to be really liked  by his players, but if they aren't directly coached by him, they put up with him. I haven't talked to these guys since the season ended, so I don't know if their opinions have changed at all. I personally did not care for him during the recruiting process.

Honestly, that surprises me. I have only ever heard flattering things about Coach Raeburn. I know that the coaches on his staff respect him a great deal. I've always had the impression that he had a decent student-athlete following as well.

Coach Southmayd is not leaving.  From what I learned is that one of the current coaches is taking another job at Central and this left his open and Coach Pfanz is taking his spot.  So there will be one more coach on the FB staff and no one leaving.  Great day in Pella, great food, people, and videos.  Great way to send off one of the winningest groups of seniors in school history.  Wish it didn't have to end.  I know Doolittle you don't agree with that.   ;D ;D ;D ;D  I did think of you when the highlight video was playing and how much you would have cringed (sp) at that overtime fumble.

The Coach Raeburn thing is that most all coaches want to better themselves and if he thinks the Wabash job is better more power to him.  The question I have is how long of contract does he have.  Will Coe renew a contract with him if he is a candidate for a job every year.  Would that hurt recruiting eventually with the players knowing that the coach may be gone next year.  I don't totally buy that the players don't like him and put up with him if he doesn't have contact with him.  Some players may do that but the majority of the team must like him or why would the go there or attend there if they didn't like him.  I can see why Coe keeps him as well as they have been Champ or vying for the spot every year the past 4 since I have been paying attention.  He has a good team and program so maybe Coe is happy with the results.  I can also understand if he wants to get closer to family and move East.  Not an easy situation for anyone to be in.

I wouldn't be surprised if all IIAC coaches are evaluated every year. I doubt there are too many contracts. I have been wrong before, once.

You just HAD to bring that up!!! ;D  I don't know if the thought of that game just caused my heart burn or if it was the enchilada I had for lunch.

Just looking at the UD website it shows that Jeremy Fellows is now listed as the OC replacing the departed Joe Austin.  Last year I know 3 of the four captains said they had been recruited to UD by Fellows so I guess he was a good option to move up to OC...he is also the track coach there.  Also of note is Jay Davis isn't listed as a coach.  He had come to UD with Brautigam from Mt. Senario so those two had been together a long time.  He had been listed as assistant head coach and DC, don't know where he has gone.  So UD will have a new OC and DC next season to go along with replacing quite a few starters.

I know that one player was ready to leave Coe because iof Raeburn and transfer to UNI. I was told this by his father and by other players on the team. He decided to stay and got good playing time last year. As I said,I haven't talked to them since the season ended,so things may have changed.

I think what we are seeing here is par for the course with Coach Raeburn.  He looses Suckow in his senior season, he also was looking to transfer to UNI.  I echo the same sediments from my camp.  I have heard all the same things.  Great football mind and knows how to put a good team on the field, as far as being loved by his players, unlikley.

I thought I was wrong once, but I turned out to be right, so I was wrong for being right. Unless you talk to my wife or kids. They're amazed I can find my way from the living room to the kitchen to the bathroom by myself! ;D

That's not nice! Me and Klop's karma together doesn't register on the scale, so we need to have each other's back.
