coocoo, I went back as far as page 809.  I think you are talking about your post from page 810.  I would say I didn't comment on it because it soon turned into a discussion about Freddy Jackson making the NFL after your post.

You said some good things about Raeburn that other posters echoed as well.  Sucessfully transitioned Coe from the Midwest Conference into the IIAC,  kept Coe at a high level the entire time he was here, did so without the biggest budget or best facilities.  I liked what you said.

I guess I was just trying to get across that it seemed like you, Charlie and CoeNation all mentioned other posters saying bad things about Coe and Raeburn and I wasn't thinking that was the case that Coe was being bashed by other posters.  But I am usually wrong in my assessments of situations.   ;D ;D ;D

Wow, 3 new head coaches in the IIAC next year.  How will this affect recruiting for  Coe?  I have no idea how recruiting works at the D-III level.

The reason I didn't comment on your post is because I addressed the issue two pages earlier on page 807.

That was also a comment made before his departure.

I don't know anything about the Raeburn situation except for the fact that the AD is John Chandler not Chancellor, and as long as he is the AD at Coe I have no worries about the Kohawks.

Again, not worried at all.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Looking outside at all the snow that is coming down got me thinking about weather extremes.

What is the coldest game you can remember playing in or attending?
Cornell in Storm Lake, last game of the year in 2000.
What is the hottest game you can remember playing in or attending?
Either the home opener vs S.W. Minn. St. in 2002 or home opener vs Gustavus Adolphus in 2003.
Worst field conditions snow?
BV vs Cornell 2000, only game I've played in the snow.
Worst field condition rain/mud?
Coe 2003...I don't think there was any grass between the 20's.
Upper Iowa, 2001, played in a monsoon, but field wasn't terrible.
Ever not able to make it to a game?
No.
Worst road trip experiance?
Wartburg 2000, had to remind a teammate about every 10 miles on the way home, what the final score was and if I remembered the play that he got his concussion.
Best road trip experiance?  (and that probably shouldn't include any stories about catholic high school girls or cheerleaders)
Not really sure on this one. It was always a long-*** haul to anywhere from BV. I was pretty boring, so Papa John's pizza before bed in the hotel room was usually the highlight. Sorry to disappoint.
Let's hear some good stories.

Spurrier

For the "old-timers" on the board. . .here is a spurrier update. . .

spurrier jr signed his LOI and GIA today to attend the university of cincinnati. . .he has been accepted into the school of food and nutrition in hopes of becoming a nutritionist for a sports team. . .he will report on June 9th for the first summer quarter and begin working with coach longo, the strength and conditioning coach at cincinnati who worked with hayden fry at iowa for many years.  he will play safety but could grow back into a linebacker before his career is finished. . .mrs. spurrier and i are really proud of  him
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

Congratulations to your son.  That sounds very exciting.  I wish him the best of luck during his career.

Good deal spurrier.  I was thinking of your son earlier today and was planning on asking how things went for him.

Will he be putting you on any special diets with that major of his???  I can use your son for an excuse for the next four years any time my wife asks me why I am watching Cincy play on the tv!!!  She really doesn't understand how I can watch games on Thursday nights plus ALL day saturday.

I wish him the best of luck and congrats to you and mrs spurrier...I know you are proud of your son.

Hey all....I leave the board for a while and it looks like I've missed out on a lot of fun!  Raeburn leaving Coe to go back to Ohio......talks about DF's cleavage (had a friend that saw it back in '98......pictures are on MySpace).  Just kidding DF!!!  The photos aren't there but the brown pillow still remains.  :)

Congrats spurrier, that is a great accomplishment.  You should be proud.

Let's hear some good stories.

Coldest - Waldorf at SL '06 - 6" of snow and below freezing next to the lake, with wind.  And we lost to frickin' Waldorf.

Hottest - Gustavus at SL '03 - Only on the sidelines for that one, but it was hot in those dark blue unis.

Worst field conditions, snow - Waldorf at SL '06 again - Skates would have come in handy.

Worst field conditions, mud/rain - at Coe, '03 - Again, didn't play, but warmups in the muck were not fun.

Ever not make it to a game? - No.

Worst road trip experience - At Waldorf '05 - Only away game we didn't travel to on Friday.

Best road trip experience - at Cornell '06 - Stayed at Zazza's in CR when OSU was also staying there for their game at Iowa.  Pretty cool seeing WRs and RBs as big as our linemen, some of whom now play on Sundays.  Meeting some of their coaches was pretty sweet as well, although no one got to meet Mr. Sweater Vest.
When it's 3rd and 10, you can take the milk drinkers, and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time.

I have ordered shingles and shutters for summer home improvement projects.  I've hired a former Knight football player as the contractor.  It sounds like I'll be getting a new roof and contributing to a recruiting effort at the same time.

It's never a good sign when the brown pillow incident is brought up -- mainly because I remember very little of the incident! Gotta love Mr. Maurer. Beake house shenanigans live on.... Wing_T, we really should talk off line sometime soon....

Congrats on little Spurrier -- was really hoping to find him at Central in the near future, though!!

Great stories BOY, that's what I was looking for.

And spurrier, it's great your son gets a free education and gets to play football at the highest level and all...BUT, he will never get to experiance the joy of scoring a touchdown against Loras!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Thunderbolt

A weather update from my winter wonder land. As I sit here in the same clothes I went to work in Tuesday morning, I feel fortunate to not be in one of the 800 plus vehichles that have been stranded on interstate 90 since 11am yesterday. The National Guard sent 15 Humvees and 5 duece and a half trucks to feed and water the stranded motorist, and evacuate those who had run out of gas. Traffic is now moving slowly, and this just in, a snow plow has been sighted starting on Thunderbolts 1/2 mile long in-drive. We have been the lucky recipients of about twenty inches of snow since Tuesday with winds capable of making 4 foot drifts in some of the most inconvienent places. Looking forward to a warm and sunny reply from Heys or DF1
