Mediacom televises the IIAC conference softball tournament.

I think the IIAC pays for the broadcast

Uh oh!  TWO posts in a row of over five words - anyone got the National Enquirer phone number? ;D

Won't send cash, but here's karma for being a good sport! ;)

You might want to cut yourself a little slack and become "10 words or less"! :D

Ok, as Walston said no advertisers for public tv and as you say the IIAC pays mediacom for the broadcast for the softball tournament so there you go.  The IIAC could pay $500 or whatever amount to bring in a PBP guy and then the home school of the broadcast could handle the production...cameras, color guy, halftime interview stuff like that.  I guess the only reason I would prefer IPTV over mediacom is everybody in the state supposedly gets IPTV...not everybody has mediacom.

Just an idea to get the conference some exposure in the state.  No big deal.

I bet SK might do it for $300 ;D ;D ;D ;D

I love the idea. Wartburg does 1 game a year on the student-run channel. Loras does at least 1, maybe more. I wouldn't be surprised if BV does as well. Unfortunately, those signals rarely reach the edge of town. There is some new Wartburg influence at IPTV. I will talk to him and see if it is even a possibility.

Perhaps the delay in Coe naming a coach is due to Madame Rose being unable to contact the ghost of Vince Lombardi to see if he was available.

im guessing that doesnt take into account grad school at the state universities, but that seems high for them if it costs relativly half to go there, sometimes more

It would be interesting to see how that has changed in the last 20-30 years and if it is something that has kept pace with inflation.

I would bet it out paced inflation, I'm basing this on the recent increases in college tuition compared to low inflation.

.....if anyone is interested, Luther will be video streaming the IIAC Indoor Conference Trqack Meet on Friday and Saturday.  Go to Luther Athletics and to the video streaming page.

A look back a generation would be a good thing.  What debt my generation had compared to Walston and my son's generation.  I would say it is 10 to 50 fold what it was.  The advent of student loans, government loans have driven the rise in tuition and fees.  I have often wondered how many times over Burge Hall at the UofI has been paid for.  Colleges are making tons of money.  Look at the size of the Grinnell Endowment.  I ask you what does a college need a Billion dollar endowment for?  At say a very conservative 5% grow and I think Walston would say you can get that about any where that is $50,000,000 a year.  With 1,600 students and I am not sure of the number of Grinnell students @ $30,000 a year that is only $48,000,000.  They could still have $2,000,000 left over for growth every year and not charge their students a dime.

Still need to pay the profs, janitorial services people, heating bills, yada yada yada.  But yeah, maybe $30,000 is a bit much.  I did read somewhere the average school takes out 4.5% per year from their endowment.  Chuck Grassley was trying to introduce legislation to force schools to increase that to 5.5%

11,500 in 1977 at 3% inflation is equal to about 28k today.
