My last take on Farve:
SK, you seem to have a problem with fans and the media cutting Farve more slack than you think he should get. Maybe he's cut more slack because he's earned it over his career.

As far as kid's role models, when you have kids, you'll see that many kinds of people are held up as some kind of hero to them, from gangsta rappers to sports stars to entertainers. you would hope that they follow someone who has demonstrated commitment and leadership in the face of adversity, instead of one who slaps around ho's. When they start putting doctors and firemen on trading cards, young kids might use them as role models.

Sportsknight,
Apparently you've never been close to anyone who has overcome an addiction. To me, that's his most admirable achievement of all. It's certainly not deserving of continued ridicule. And you don't think he made a difference in anyone's lives? How about the fathers and sons who bonded while watching him play, particularly that Monday night after his own father's death? You bet he's a great role model, one whom my son and I both hold in the highest regard.

At Coe we would usually take "official" weight 3 times during the year.  Once at the begenning of camp, once at the end of the season (before off season lifting started) and once right before summer came.  Whatever was your heaviest weight was usually put on the program.  Most people lose weight during the season and camp because you can't lift as hard/much as during the off season.  I would say the majority of people weigh the most right before summer hits because your working hard (some people dont work out much during the summer) and you dont have the summer job that is usually outside, making it hard to keep weight on.

Being off campus I cannot give any other input to Yordi case except I checked @ https://www.iowacourts.state.ia.us and searched the case and NO vedict  has be entered.

Farve retirement- The Pack still have the best qb in the division.

Funniest thing we've seen is a billboard stating "Purple Hays" north on Mobile on I-65.

Off to the course... happy shoveling

Well put Sportsknight...

Brett Favre really never meant much to me since I wasn't a Packer fan.  But I will admit he is a good QB.  He has won some big games, set some big records (which will be broken soon), and over come some major obstacles in his personal life.

I never understood what he meant to people, until I read a blog my old roommate posted (who is a HUGE packers and Brett Favre fan).

http://www.thebuckychannel.com/2008/03/thanks-brett.html

The way he described the impact Favre had on him reminded me of the impact Walter Payton had on Bears fans, who maybe didn't see it so much when he retired as when he passed away.  I was starting to see what all the hype was about concerning Favre.

Then one of those jacka** Packers fans had to jump on my post to the blog, saying Favre is greater than Payton because Walter never had a Superbowl TD.  This is why I get so upset with most Packers fans.  MOST...not all.  To make it worse, when I pointed out that I was trying to compare them as human beings and not statistically on the field, the jacka** fan had to say Favre was greater than Payton because Favre is living and Payton is dead.  Now I realize this fan doesn't represent all Packer fans...AEN, I know how much Favre and the Packers mean to you and AEN Jr.  I see what it all means to my old roommate....but after those comments, you can see why I can't stand Sundays in Wisconsin surrounded by cheeseheads.

Yordi was not guilty. Haven't seen it anywhere on the internet yet though.

Good thing I can still count on you to agree with me every once in a while.  How's the new job going?

Kind of slow during the days since I spend lots of time on this board, but keeping busy with Winona State's success in post season play.  Conference championship this weekend and hosting regionals next weekend, so lots of games to direct.  Loving every minute of it.

I have not yet...which is odd since I have been living in town for a few months now.  Saw Coach Kyte at a game a few weeks back.  Knightlife (assuming he is your sibling of WH) said they will be around the HBC studios more once FB season is here.  Once we get out of the busy basketball season, hopefully I can meet up with him downtown and get to know the Winona Nightlife.

That Winona nightlife is something else. I had a blast when I was up there.

 Sportsknight,
I won't pick apart your entire post, though I probably could. But to answer your question of when did Favre ever take a pay cut. Many times. He restructured his contract so many times, he'll still be on the payroll for about ten more years. Favre has taken a lot of heat over the years from the players union and other individuals for his stance on honoring contracts. You can google- Brett Favre charity- and peruse the 104,000 matches that come up, if you question his motives.
To blame him for the way some fans and announcers carry on doesn't make much sense. It is easier to revere a QB in one town for 17 years than 25 starting QB's in another town over the same time frame.
In closing I'd just like to say; upon further review, the Bears still suck!

I'll have to get up there sometime next fall to catch a game.  You might even be able to talk me into running a camera for you.
