Persistant letters from us and those we know as well.  Another reason that I would love to see an IIAC game of the week shown on IPTV every weekend is the snowball effect it would have on the states media.  Not only would the media be more aware of the conference through that game each week but the general public would become more aware and more of them would write letters demanding more coverage in the papers and on TV.

Plus all those media/communications majors would have a nice resume filler for themselves working on this deal!!!

I like what you're thinking, but I don't think that the for-profit media takes many cues from programming on IPTV.

It would at least put it in the back recesses of their minds...as opposed to the current not at all  ;D

If there was a way to get the games on i believe there would be a big draw after people watched a couple of games and recognize some of the players. Once they realize these were the guys you cheered for and against in high school,it would make you want to keep watching to see how those players you know do in college.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I also believe that when we write these letters, that we stress the number of central Iowa players on all the teams in the IIAC. This would be an added incentive to report on the conference.

I think I would also stress we are the Iowa Conference...not so much the IIAC.  Play up there are Iowa players playing in the Iowa Conference.  It's our states conference!!!

All the coaches coming on and talking about how important sportsmanship is.  Guess its a good thing Raeburn won't be in the league any more. :o ;D

i hope this isn't because you feel he is a poor sport and more aimed at his speaking abilities?

In the winter, I'd estimate about 80 degrees.

I once saw Raeburn kick a puppy and knock an old lady off her walker before spitting on a boy scout after a Wartburg game  ;D  Ok, not really.

I am very curious to see how Coe does over the next few years.  I think Staker could really sell parents on the fact he sent all his kids to Coe and the whole family side of it in the recruiting process.  But can he sell 18 year old kids to play for a 64 year old???  I think Coe will do fine recruiting wise, I think a lot will depend on getting a good OC onto the staff.

There are million things to say about the sportsmanship issue.  I don't think it will die soon as we all like to crack a joke about it.  I just stopped a post and thought about it so I didn't post it.

I think Staker will do a good job.  I think there will be some growing for him.  Will he be able to delegate things.  I think there are some coaches that do well with this.  I agree with Doolittle getting an OC to handle the play calling is key.  If he keeps handling the D that is.  Maybe he will need a DC as he will take over the offense.  Time will tell but I see Coe staying about the 3-5 spot in the conference now but look at how things turned out at Drake this year.  Picked 9th in the conference and 6th (by Keno himself).  Stranger things have happened and mayge Coe will be in the hunt for an IIAC crown or playoff birth.

You can read as much into it as you want.  I think I've been pretty clear on here about my feelings toward Coe's former coach.

Fact is, things have been fairly congenial around here lately and I'd rather keep it that way by not drudging up old stuff about a guy that isn't in the league anymore.

IMHO, I think we all need to write a letter to the DM media groups, blasting them for not giving the IIAC its due.

If anyone has ever seen "The Shawshank Redemption", I think we all know what Andy Duphrane did writing a letters.

On that note, I am going to draft my letter as we speak.

I agree with Klop on this one (mark it down on your calendars, folks!) -- volume is going to make the difference. Write several letters -- be persistent.

Wow Dutch im moved.  I think I feel my eyes welling up a bit and for that I might have to toss a little karma your way.  I had already came to the realization that I was your doormat to take your bad days out on.

Whatever. It's not personal -- I just tend to disagree with a lot of what you say.  ;D

Well we agree on another thing.  We both disagree with what eachother write most of the time  :o

Personally, I think Staker could be a great front man.  Look at all his connections and his tenure pertaining to IA football in general.

If he can position himself with the right OC, DC, and special teams coordinator, his life will be good.  A lot of people have said things about the fact that he is 65 years old.  Has anyone thought that it might be comforting to parrents to be sending their kids to an established man?  Not to discredit young coaches, but maybe just mabye he can play the grandfather/mentor role and have it be effective.

Call me crazy but I think its more important for young men to learn from older established people that have been through the rigors of life, rather than from some young hot shot still making his way.  This is also coming from a young man, I just generally respect my elders!

That may appeal to some players may appeal more to parents, but think of this Klop.  Players want to play the game age may be a negative to some as they may see him as being outdated not modern not hip or up on all the current offenses and defences.  Many teens see their parents as not knowing things and old and out dated.  They may see Coach Staker this way.  Ever here the saying that the older kids get the smarter their parents are.  We do not get smarter but the kids mature.  Coach Staker may indeed be up on all these things but some kids for whatever reason may see him as a dinosaur (not that he is)
