I also hear that the Interest Rate would be higher for a school loan and plus will need a co-signer that is if they qualify.
This makes sense, basically the lender is lending money unsecured to 18 year-old kid w/ no credit history.  If a kid doesn't pay his student loan, can the lender sell his brain/knowledge?

Hasn't co-signing always been common practice for student loans?

I just figured out a way for Wartburg to make some money.
Wikipedia uses the Wartburg W. I know there were some legal issues with the W being used for things when I was in school. Of course, no one at an institution of higher learning such as Wartburg would be using wikipedia for research so I figured I better point it out ::)

You didn't need a co-signer if you used Iowa Student Loan

You didn't have to co-sign but I do think it was an option and you got a better rate.

As exciting as the financial aid conversation is, I'd like to throw out a question for you guys.....

If you had to rank them, what would you say were the top 5 IIAC teams over the last 10 seasons? Be a little creative...listing the conference champ over and over again would get a little boring and predictable. Be sure to back up your assertions!

My list (strictly off the top of my head)
1. 2007 Central Dutch. The memory is still fresh for everyone - 'nuf said.
2. 2007 UD -- great strides as a program. The conference actually took the Spartains seriously....
3. 2003 Wartburg -- playoff run ended with Linfield, but had a hell of a team.
4. 2000 Central -- Miracle in the Mud playoff run vs. Linfield. Lost a tight game in the next round to SJU. Amazing team....
5. 2002 Coe -- from what I remember, these guys were animals that year.

Honorable mention -- 2001 Cornell Rams. This is the year the Rams went 7-3. For a while, it looked like the newcomers to the conference would go undefeated....

Thoughts? Input?

I would have to list the '03 Knights first because in the 10 years I have been following the IIAC quite closely, there has not been a more dominant team.
'00 Dutch-They were very tough defensively and had an adequate offense
'99 Knights-Breakthrough year for Wartburg after finishing second the year before. Lost in 2nd round playoffs to eventual champ Pac. Lu
'03 Storm- Only runner-up to make the list. If it hadn't of been for the Knights, Simpson would have dominated the conference. Got majorly upset by Norby in the first round though./'07 Dutch-No one would be impressed watching these guys on tape, but somehow, some way, they always found a way to get the job done.
'02 Coe- I'll go along with Dutchfan1 here. Freddie was exciting. His bro was good. ANother good RD, I believe his name was Wycoff? Above average defense. 3-way champs with Wartburg and Central that year, and Wartburg and Coe both made the 2nd round. Since Coe got us on homecoming, I'll give them the nod.

While this year's UD squad was good, I really don't think they rank in the top 5 teams in the IIAC for the past 10 years.

Well Dutchie was saying to be creative and not just pick conference winners!!!  I might have included UD from this year if they hadn't lost that 3rd game to BV.  Up until the 2005 season I pretty much just looked up if Dbq won or lost on sunday and that was about it.  I will take a look but my top criteria would be undefeated regular seasons and how far a team made it into the playoffs.

Good Topic  the last ten years more time than I have really followed the conference.

I would call the 03 Knights and 07 Dutch tops.  Here are the reasons.  The Dutch beat the #3 team in the nation in a big way to get a third playoff game.  The 03 Knights might have the label as choking.  If memory serves didn't the Knights turn the ball over like 3 or 4 times in the red zone against Linfield.  The comment but Walston about finding a way to win says it all and to me IMHO that is a sign of a good team.  I think I would go with the 02 Coe team next.  It is a toss up for the next two. Not a lot of playoff success in the rest of that field.  Maybe 06 Dutch deserves some mention as they went 10-0 that year too.  As tough as the IIAC is there are not many undefeated teams in the past that can lay claim to 10-0.

How many of you guys ever saw the '99 Knights?

KCDutch

WH-
Yes, the '99 knights were very good. The '99 Central/Wartburg games was the best game day atmosphere I've experienced at a D3 game.

1.  2003 Wartburg
2.  2007 Central
3.  2002 Coe
4.  (t) 2002 Wartburg and 2004 Wartburg

I'd also include the aforementioned 2003 Simpson team and the 2005 Central team in my Honorable Mention.

1.)  2003 Knights:  The "d" flew to the ball like something I have ever seen.

2.)  2002 Coe:  Freddie Jackson; the cut back that he made against us was disgusting.

3.)  2003 Simpson:  Donneworth was pretty outstanding.  Lost a nail biter to St. Norbert up in Green Bay.

4.)  2000 Dutch:  Miracle in the mud, enough said.

5.)  2007 Dutch:  They loose Schuring and still adpat enough to make the run that they did.

If UD is going to be considered a list, then the 2004 BV squad deserves that same look.  Very similar equation.  Made the rest of the IIAC take them seriously, had the conference title in their sights, pissed away to many good chances to take the next step.
