WH OR Sk if St cloud is to name new coach today at 4:15 do you think that Wartburg will be looking for a new AD ? If Willis gets the job do any of the coaching staff on the Knights go with him or not ? This is just a question

(I do wish we played Wartburg later though, but the early game might backfire on them if they think we have too many holes to fill.  If nothing else, they won't know for sure what we are going to throw at them.)

I agree with that -- personally, I like playing the conference championship in November with the Central/Wartburg clash.

So, Central and Wartburg play early this season -- will the loser (assuming they are perfect the rest of the season) be awarded a playoff spot, or does the one loss early hurt them?

I would be surprised if Wartburg averaged 4 rocket screens a game this year. The linemen weren't as mobile so it wasn't something they were very good at.

For as great as the screen pass is, it is an equally risky play.  If the play is not ran to perfection, the play almost always goes for negative yards or ends in an interception.

There is definitely a time and place to run it. Its not something that can just be run up and down the field.
As far as Willis bringing Wartburg coaches with him (if he gets the job), I don't think it will happen, at least not right away. I was told that all St. Cloud's assistants have a year left on their contracts.

I do know that a couple of ex-Knights are GA's up there now.

I didn't even know that Hoskins and Lynch were up at St. Cloud.  They would be a big help towards getting Willis' philosophies put into place quickly for the Huskies.  Reed had a pretty big year in 2003 breaking a few records.  Lynch held his own on the WR side of things as well.

It does look like St. Cloud could use a boost.  They did beat UW-Whitewater (26-16) and defeated some of the NSIC competition, but looks like they had some difficulty in their previous conference.

As a Titans fan, you can have him.  I'm tired of that guy giving me headaches.  There's no question he is talented - Tennessee could have used him in the secondary and on special teams last year.  But his off-field crap greatly out-weights anything he does on the field.

Well said SK.  I think the NFL has got to clean up their players.  They are paid a ton of money for what they do.  If they can not follow rules they should not be part of the team period.

Nice post SK.  Since when did being talented give you more chances than regular joes?  If you ask me, Pacman should be banished from the league.  I get very tired of hearing about these endowed athletes and all of their legal issues.  They have more talent than most of us put together, yet find some way to screw it all up.  Take a look at Tank Johnson, hes a real sweetheart as well.

KNSI Scoop: Underwood named new SCSU head football coach

Terry Lee Reporting

ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - St. Cloud State University has named their new head football coach and KNSI news has learned that will be defensive coordinator Scott Underwood.

An official announcement is expected this afternoon during a news conference at 4:15.

KNSI Sports Director Don Lyons learned earlier today that Underwood had been chosen.

Underwood has been the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator with the Huskies since 2001.

Former Coach Randy Hedberg was reassigned after the 2007 season and then decided to leave and take a Head Coaching job at Southern Illinois University.

Other finalists were Rick Willis, current director of athletics at Wartburg College in Iowa and Bemidji State football coach Jeff Tesch.
