That was it!!! ::)  Only you forgot to say that he was the best quarterback to ever play at Central College and that he was conference MVP and that he was critical in pulling Central though a number of close games and...

Thanks for sending him our way DF04.  Without him the evil empire would have struck again. :-\  Phew, glad that didn't happen!  LOL

You don't know how close it was to him playing for the evil empire.  Big brother and him still have their words now and then.   ;D

I'm looking for some input from the Coe faithful. I heard from an impeccable source that one player has quit Coe because of the Staker hire. Are there any other players who have done the same?

Who is this player rumored to have left?

I won't name him here, but I know where he's going to school, where he's going to live, and who he's going to live with. And it's not the Evil Empire. He's actually quitting football altogether so he can pusue a different major. But I was told he might have stayed if the coaching would have went another way.

10 - number of career TDs for Norse RB Adam Lamos entering his senior year this fall.  As part of a rebuilding offense, he will bring back the most returning career TDs and rushing yards (250 carries for 1,061 yards, 4.2 average).

10 - number of consecutive Iowa Conference baseball titles won by Luther during the 1920s and early 1930s when schools were playing non-balanced conference schedules and the Norse were also playing well most years against a lot of Division I programs (almost half of the Norse games were against university programs during the 21 years of Coach Reque).  According to the Iowa Conference, this all happened during the dark ages as baseball titles are only recognized from 1947 to the present.  The Norse have won 12 conference titles since 1947 even though the Luther website still only says 11 (haven't updated the total after sharing with Wartburg last spring).

Since football officially replaced baseball as the most popular sport in America during 1972 (the year that I was born), I would actually think that those baseball seasons back before World War II were some of the glory seasons of the game as baseball was being played by a higher percentage of the population than today.

Thanks for the kind words.  He does have most of the QB records.  The one thing that is hard to say is that he is the best.  I have not seen other Dutch QB's in the past and that was a different time and style of play.  If I say that it seems self serving and there is no purpose to that.  I believe he is the first QB for the Dutch to get the MVP award for the IIAC.  He was part of the team and without all those other players out there he would not have the success or stats he had.  That includes both sides of the ball.  There were defensive players and special team players that certainly helped the the Dutch success over the past three years.  I hope that the underclassmen fill the shoes of the graduates and the Dutch continue the winning ways.  I am looking forward to catching the games this fall.

So who gets the job this year?  Connell had it for three years and I don't think anyone else got too many snaps.

This proves it -- I'm really old school. When I think Central QB, I think Marc Poortinga and Nathan Eighmy.... Tim will definitely be right up there with the legends, though. :)

10...as in 10 pounds of Carne Asada purchased from Eddies Carniceria, BBQ'd, and consumed last Saturday for Heys Jr.'s Birthday Party.

Cornell now resumes the responsibility of feeding him and his roommate.

They eat like Coneheads...they consume mass quantities of any edible substance that we had to offer.  :o

I can relate. when footballkid is home,we go from two gallons of milk a week to almost two a day. Makes the meal plan at school seem cheap!

And sign me up for some of that carne asada! El Rodeo in Des Moines makes great carne asada tacos.

I would guess Zach Bandow.  He probably got as many snaps as Connell did before he got his chance.  I think it's great that Tim raised the bar for him.  It gives him something to strive for and that's always a good thing.

It could be worse, the names Chris Nelson and Gary Cutler come to mind for me when you talk QB legends.  Cutler was on the '74 championship team and without a last second touchdown against Ferris State in the second game, or so, of the season, Central would never have gotten an invite to the playoffs.  I've seen a lot of exciting games in my day, but that one will always make my mental highlight reel.  3 touchdowns in the last 3 minutes or so of what was up until then a low scoring game.

I have heard that sophmore to be from the western side of the state is the leading cadidate.  He won a state title his senior year.  Tall kid with pretty decent speed.  I am sure the Central backers have better information that I have.
