DooLittle - I meant 4, but still seem to be missing one...  From the stands I counted the long snapper, place holder, kicker and punter.  Any idea who I missed?

I counted...

Adam Burken - starting TE and also the placeholder

Derik Wulfekuhle - starting DL

Scott Heier - punter and backup LB

Collins Eboh - DL

Colton Hansen - backup QB that got in the game...he's probably who you missed.  He was a first team all-state qb out of Olin that threw for tons of yards in high school.  With DBQ having a new OC that had been the wide receivers coach I'm expecting UD to throw down field a bit more next season with Hansen taking over the starting job at QB.

The long snapper was often Mark Mashburn...from Idaho...often confused for Iowa by those on the coasts  ;D I'm not sure who was handling the long snaps that day though.

Sorry to, for getting a little defensive there.  A lot of people talk about the lack of Iowans on Dubuque's roster.  With the Spartans history of losing seasons it has been hard to recruit our state well.  There were posters on here that said during their recruiting process they didn't want any part of Dubuque because they didn't want to work hard in practice and then go out and go 0-10 on the season.  They preferred Wartburg or Central because they could win there.  It's been easier for Dubuque to recruit kids from Florida because they don't have built-in preconceptions about Dubuque.  With some recent on-field success and new facilities on campus I think Dubuque will be better able to recruit our state.  Plus Dubuque does have 21 kids from Illinois...with Dubuque sitting on the Mississippi river you can almost count the Illinois kids as in-state.

Agreed with your statement about the Illinois kids.  They really are local kids with that location.  You could say the Wisconsin kids (if any are on the team) would be local as well.  I think Luther getting Minnesota kids would apply to this as well.

To a degree it does.  There were Big East assistant coaches that turned down the Providence job because they thought it was a no win situation.  I also wonder about the job security Keno will have if he strings together some losing seasons out there.  I think he could have stayed at Drake forever even if he wasn't making it to the post season most years.  Also, with cost of living in Des Moines vs. Providence is 300k at Drake THAT much different than 1 million per at Providence???

Of course I am an Iowa homebody and if I were Robbie Sieverding or Vince Brautigam at Dubuque I would stay on the job until my 70's just to see how many wins I could rack up at 1 school...kind of like Gags up at St. Johns!!!

Wait, I'll spin it for the day's numbers....

15 -- minutes of fame for Nat'l COY Keno Davis, all of which go straight to his head before he jumps ship for another school.....and is never heard from again.  ;)

Kind of but not anywhere near the same ballpark numerically, most likely.

Well if he got a 5 year deal at a million per year if he is wise with the money he may not have to coach after the 5 years.  He may not need job security.

Good job Doolittledog.  I couldn't have said it better myself.   Back in the 60's, UD drew quite a few football players from the Chicago area, and from out east.  I remember three that came from Darrien, Connecticut:  Dave Bacon, QB  who was moved to wide receiver (4th on Top Ten Receivers by receptions with 68) when Paul Krause (QB) transferred in from the Air Force Academy  ... Warren Reininger, RB who passed away a few years ago ... and Chuck DeFarkas, interior lineman.  There also was a two-time All Conference linebacker, Dozier Jones from Atlanta, Georgia.  I seem to remember quite a few players from California during the Don Birmingham era.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Well even better for him. 7 million vs 2.1 million.  Sounds like he moved up pretty well.  If he can turn that program around in two-four years he may move again and get more money.  You can't blame a guy for providing for the family and himself.

Watched Joe Brannen play for the Barnstormers last night on TV. He brought them back and they had a shot to win. Possibly he could get the starting job. Overall he did the Coe faithful proud.

Way to go Joe!

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

The 15th of April is cursed:

1865 - Lincoln died.

1912 - Titanic sank

every year - taxes due

All in favor of just skipping from the 13th to the 16?  (Figure we'd better avoid the 14th also, since that is the date Lincoln was shot and the Titanic struck the iceberg!)
