The Turkey Call/Fire and Ice.....I will always have fond memories of the 3 fine role models that I lived across from my freshman year.   Everyone learned more from them than any class that Wartburg could offer!   ;D

Walston Hoover

Fire and Ice, I forgot about that-Had a guy at Kohlman park my freshman year with a super-soaker full of that and he would just walk up to people and say "open your mouth."

SK and to think with all your AV talents you did not have the foresight to make that into a video :D  I assume it was the years in prison that would stop a man from doing that ;D

I can hear the opening of the video now: "Excuse me ladies, did someone call for a SportsKnight?!".
He did have the foresight to make some other things into a video in Ohio.
That line "did someone call for a Sportsknight" is an instant classic.

True on both counts.

I just remember throwing cases full of empty beer bottles out the windows to the ally below.  We thought we would get in a ton of trouble, but since one of our RA's was helping us do this, we didn't really see the harm in it.

Pretty sure we almost had the mattress duct taped outside that same RA's door while he was in with a lady friend...until he heard us making too much noise in the hallway.

we once made our enitre hallway in the dorm into a slip and slide with laundry detergant and water and later that night duct taped someone to a computer chair

Wouldn't take too much water with liquid laundry detergent. Something else that lasts a little longer is to spray Pledge lightly on the floor. You will slide forever with that on the floor. Learned that on accident growing up.

In reference to names, there was a doctor in Des Moines named Hugh Dick. And he was a urologist. So Dr. Dick was a d*ck doctor.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Doo--- I think Fonda was from Moravia.  Perhaps BB can confirm she wasn't a MEPO product.

These Wartburg tales are surprizing.  Most of my free time was spent at the library and Danforth Chapel.  There were a few items of insanity that come to mind.

1) The Knickerbocker Open was an indoor golf tournament held in Clinton Hall.  The object was to see how many strokes it took to get a golf ball from your room to the top floor then to the ground floor and back to your room.  Being talented with a pitching wedged helped getting your ball up the stair wells.  The evening usually ended with a secret raid of other dorms to get light fixtures to replace those that were broken during the tournament.

2) Lydia the Pig was a cute little porker that some characters in Grossman (now Founders) thought they should raise in the shower.  She was unfortunately discovered by the Gestapo.  This all happened about the same time Luther has been credited with turning a pig, with a Wartburg cheerleading uniform, loose in Knights Gymnasium prior to the Wartburg/Luther basketball game.  Whether the pig at the game was a Luther prank or a Wartburg farwell to Lydia remains a mystery.  Incidently Lydia was fondly named after a beloved Wartburg staff person who happened to be related to Mrs. Walston Hoover.

3) For the homecoming "Yell Like Hell" contest prior to the annual football game with Upper Iowa, the guys in Engelbrecht decided a large white hen dyed Peacock blue would be a perfect prop for their cheer.  The hen took up residence in the dorm while adequate color was applied to the feathers.  The chicken made its appearence at the contest and was tossed over an imitation goal post with strings tied to her legs.  Engelbrecht chanted some, probably inappropriate, cheer and the chicken was returned to the farm, blue but unharmed.  The next day the Trumpet ran an opinion piece saying the juveniles in Engelbrecht were a bunch of sadistic bastards who belonged in a zoo.  The name stuck and the following week ZOO shirts showed up in Engelbrecht.

I should tell my wife to take a look at this thread.  After meeting my Dubuque friends she told me that NONE of our children would be allowed to go there.  That place was too much of a party school in her opinion.  I have tried to tell her that EVERY school is like that.  The problem is she went to Northwestern College and I hear that place is just a bit more conservative that our IIAC schools.

To paraphrase what Purple Heys has said.  I would be horrified to find out my children were behaving the same way as I did in College.  My grandmother had a saying...do as I say, not as I do!!!

Warthog, you are probably correct.  It's been about 2 decades since I have heard much about her name.  I did get that her home town started with an M  ;D ;D ;D  That should get me a few bonus points!!!

How many days until Sept. 6th???

From looking at the UD webcam it looks like they are getting close to putting the new turf down.

No idea about Fonda, my guess is that if she was a MEPO grad I would have heard about her since Girls 6 on 6 BB is like a religion down here

I'll have to ask the Slickster about Lydia.

Oh please -- Central is about as close to Northwestern's conservatism, and we had more than our fair share of shenanigans.  ;) College kids will be college kids. I think we should be rewarding these kids creativity, rather than punishing their antics. :)

UM? Flunk Day anyone?  i know you all have heard of that -- there are some professors on campus that would rather do away with the storied tradition

I would have to say, Central would have to be the least-party school in the conference, from what i've heard, or cornell, but i just haven't heard anyting about them ever.
