So what are the plans as to replacing Jim Lewis on the Wartburg coaching staff?  I see his name and face remain on the coaching roster at the team web-site.
I was hoping it might be time to bring Little Warthog's old suite mate, Jeff V. back to the Knights in a coaching capacity.

I don't know if it was the answer or not for replacing lewis but I did see that former player Dan Hammes was hired to coach running backs this season.

That doesn't even make all that much sense.  #1 Have a winning record. #2 Win conference. #3 Beat Central.

Maybe they know beating UD is out of the question this year  ;D ;D ;D

And I've seen enough of those 2007 Central videos...especially the 2nd one that has the Dubuque game on it.  :'(

Oh Doolittle how can you be tired of seeing that FG blocked and the line crawl through the uprights?   ;D ;D ;D ;D Sorry I just had to say that.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have to say that I became a fan of the IIAC when I was a senior in high school.  After BV recruited me and  set foot on campus I was very impressed.  I did not head to BV out of high school, but after one semester at my first school, I knew it was time to head to BV.

I am a big fan of the IIAC in general.  There was a point made in a previous post about playing your guts out on Saturdays for nothing more than pride.  That is what is go great about our conference and the d3 level in general.  All of us were a step to slow, an inch to short, or not quite physically big enough to play at the upper echelons.  But the love of the game brought each of us to our schools in one way or another.  There was nothing better than riding home on the bus with 55 guys after a big win talking about the best moments and looking forward to doing it again the next weekend.

The best thing about football has nothing to do with the final wins and losses in my book.  Its the friends that you make, the blood that you spill, and the bones that you break, just for the fact that you love the game that much.

Well, they won't get #2 without #3.....

Wait, you have Central BEHIND Loras and Simpson finishing dead last? Are you sure it's just coffee you're drinking this morning?  ;)

Personally, I think that Cornell will still bottom-dwell. I think that Coe is afraid of heights -- climbing as high as second would scare them. Loras will actually win a couple of games this year, but they are a bottom-tier team until they prove otherwise. BV has potential to do somethng decent. Luther won't be second from the bottom -- they'll fall somewhere in the middle, as will UD. Central and Wartburg will duke it out for the title again. The story almost writes itself.

But, these are just my personal opinions....  ;D

I get sick to my stomach just thinking about all the close plays in that game!!!

Like the saying goes...the beauty of sports is that there is always next year!!!

Of course for this year for UD that brings games @ #22 Redlands  @ #14 Central and @ #17 Wartburg  :o :o :o

The glass is half full part of me just says that schedule will help in getting UD a high ranking after beating all 3 of them...or if the Spartans lose those games you can always come back with the "brutal away schedule" argument  ;D ;D ;D

My apologies to "doolittledog."  I just realized I had his name spelled wrong on the "IIAC Fan Base."  Spartan fans deserve better than that ... and it has been corrected for the future.

DBQ1965, you can add me to the list of Wartburg followers.  I got involved in the IIAC when I was a senior in High School.  Luther's head coach came and talked to me, Coach Mitchell talked to me at my high school as well, and BV contacted me about a visit.  Luther had some good selling points but living 20 min. from Decorah I needed to go beyond there.  Visited BV and Wartburg and it came down to those two schools.  Both had good Comm. Arts programs, but it just felt right at Wartburg especially after visiting during the school year and having lunch with Matt Stoffel and a few other FB guys, they just seemed like a great bunch of teammates.

Made a lot of friends both through football and my major working for the campus TV and radio stations.  I remember running some conditioning drills the first week of camp freshman year and during the "cool down" lap WH asked me what major I was in.  He said he worked for KWAR and WTV and told me I had a "face for radio"....thanks.  Freshman year I lived on the same floor as SK and was neighbors Sophomore year as well as worked many many hours with him in the Wartburg campus media.  AEN was my work study boss at the Auditorium who I got the job through thanks to recommendations from a guy who graduated from Spring Grove a few years ahead of me that also attended Wartburg...he also helped me get my first job right out of college and is a close friend now.  Being a Wartburg graduate was a big part of that.  Played along side Knightlife06 and have bumped into him a few times here in Winona.

I wasn't the biggest, fastest, strongest, or most talented athlete in my high school...but I really wanted to play beyond high school.  I was no where near as good as most of the guys on the Wartburg team, but it was great getting to put those pads on every day and step onto that field.  I may not have started or seen a lot of the playing field on Saturday's but I did work against one of the best defenses in D3 ever day in practice on scout team and the success and preparation showed.  All I know is that I would never trade those experiences and memories for anything else...something I am sure most of you can say as well.

As the Boy Scouts say...Always be prepared  ;D ;D ;D

While winning is fun, this is D3 and the idea is to go out and support your school and have a fun day out.  Dubuque fans on here probably appreciate the recent winning more than others (10 conference wins over the last 2 years...vs. 10 conference wins from 1991-2005)  While I would love for UD to go out and challenge for the conference title...and I think they can.  In the end I will be happy if we can have some sunny fall saturdays with temps near 60 out there this fall.  And if we don't get that I know we will be able to find some bar/resteraunt in that IIAC town that we had never been to before and have a good time there as well!!!
