Nice story about Chad Eisenman and his Central comeback.  But tell me ... does the picture of him on the D3football homepage look like his defensive play there was ripe for a pass interference call?

Yeah, he might have gotten away with one there.

My wife just got home from taking our daughters to the eye doctor.  My 5 year old picked out purple glasses!!!  I don't know if that is an early indicator of what college she might choose though  ;D

You might want to start pushing her towards attending UNI or going out of state for college.  If she stays within the IIAC, you are basically looking at two possibilities:  On the one hand she could go to Cornell and is successful academically, but has absolutely no interest in football (or any other sports for that matter).  On the other hand, she could end up a Loras, where not only would she be rooting against your alma mater at every turn, but she'll also likely be lower on the intelligence scale and have a morally casual attitude.

ShowMe, I will let you be just a fan.  The two of us might be just about the only ones on here that aren't either a former player, cheerleader, parent, or employee of one of the IIAC schools!!!

And I like your enthusiasm!!!  Support your school and dream big...even if it isn't very likely!!!  Me being a Spartan fan I know where you are coming from!!!

You will have a lot of fun on this board.  Everyone supports their school and gives other supporters trouble.  But last year come playoff time you found just about everyone from the IIAC board rooting for Central to do well in the playoffs.  At the end of the day we all have fun on this board.

Tell me about supporting Central in the playoffs! I think I'm still getting karma stolen by angry Johnnies!

No way.  K battles are for game week only.  There are miscreant lurkers that have the time (lack of lives?) to spare pinging away for the rest of the year, but it ain't one of us.

Oz is a good guy, I doubt it is you.  A few weeks ago I got on about this time at night.  Noticed DF2K4 had just posted on the Minny board and jumped over there to see what he had written.  I spent about 2 minutes on the Minny board and didn't post anything.  By the time I had read the posts on that board and jumped back to the Iowa board I was down 2K!!!  It made me laugh, I suppose us Iowa types aren't welcome up there  ;D ;D ;D  It's funny because when I first got on this board I would get worried if my karma dropped because I was worried I had offended someone and that made me feel bad.  ::)  Now I know it's just games and in the end this is only a message board, no big deal.

I like the boys on the Minny board.  They have been good to me.  I do enjoy the fishing and beer talk though.  I will say one thing though, I do have full confidence that the karma bashing was only done during the time between the SJU and Central game.

Then explain snoop dawg's -342 karma

I figure snoop picks up about 3-5 k a week from the MIAC board but he still drops about 10 points in the same period.  Explaining his karma is a task best left to him, but if you're really looking for a reason then maybe OxyBob at the SCIAC board can point out the history what has built up a loyal base of karma baggers for snoop.

Snoops karma is a quite often talked about topic.  I hit Snoop atleast 3 to 4 times a week only to wake up in the mornings and see that he has taken another beating overnight.

As one stated on the Minny board, the Cali board was one dry place before Snoop came along.  I assume there are some hard feelings for that.  As OZ stated ask OxyBob.  He always seems to have some remark or rebutle heading his direction.

The SCIAC board had its Redlands/Oxy battle going long before it had a poster who lied about who he was on more than one personality.

DF4k -

What difficult position for Tim...we'd all love to hear his perceptions on IIAC vs. SCIAC..but as a coach/participant it would be unseemly for him to make such comments public.

It would, at some point, be interesting to get a compare and contrast between Redlands' HC Maynard and Central's McMartin.

Redlands shapes up to be one of the SCIAC's best this year and Central is among the IIAC best...would be interesting to get his opinion on how he thinks things stack up.

At least maybe you can share his impression of SoCal after he gets more acclimated...

On the other hand maybe I can get to the Ram's opener on 9/6 then I'll catch the UofR/DBQ game next week and offer my own unique analysis.   ;)

Love to meet you Heys.  I think #1 Son and I are attending that game.

Likewise,...let's see if we can hook up.  I'll take the opportunity to visit my folks, the wife and I will listen to the Carleton/Ram game on the internet then hop over to Ted Runner Stadium.

Let's keep in touch as the time to approaches.   :)

I thought the Dutch/Johnnie week was a hoot.  The Johnnie fans seem like a great bunch of beer-guzzlin', wise-crackin', ice-fishin', hollerin' at the top of their lungs all game long, fans.

We IIAC'ers have some great fans, but a Johnnie game with its Stiftungfestterburgerstein is an EVENT.  I've only seen pictures online and there's just no comparison...it looks like a D-1 event at a D-III game.

Its worth having Heys Rev. 3 look at being a Johnny just to have a reason to go.  But from what I've seen you don't need any better reason than being a football fan to have fun there.

Or you could steer him towards Central.... Go Dutch!!

ShowMe -- welcome to the board!

How long ago did you play for the Rams?

Zero seasons

Meaning....you never played at Cornell, or you are a current player?

Never played and not planning to play for Cornell, just a fan!

There is not such thing as just a fan!!  ;D

Since i can't be just a fan, can I be a fanatic fan after Cornell wins their 1st conference game in September :)? Can I be an ecstatic fan if my conference champion dream come true? Can I be a pride fan enjoying the smell of eating crow if we get close? I  have to wait one play and one game at a time. Patience is painful, losing is painful, whay can't I be a fan after paying the price?

Nah, that's not what I meant -- being a fan is an important role, not to be taken lightly!

Mrs. Warthog and I went to Cedar Rapids yesterday afternoon.  We decided to come home via the scenic route through Mt. Vernon instead of takng I-80.

As a result of posters on this board, who have celebrated the Bleu Cheese Burger at Chameleons, we stopped and had dinner there.  I can only say the people who have bragged about this sandwich are absolutely correct.  What the bar/restaurant lacks in ambience it makes up in good sandwiches, ice cold drafts, and friendly staff.  We'll go back.

I saw a great St. Johns video on youtube.  Coach Gags makes every senior a captain.  When asked why he would have 25 seniors all be captain he replied that it looks good on their resume!!!  I thought that was great.  St. Johns about doubles the attendance of neighboring St. Cloud St.  which is a D2 school!!!

That was a great description of the place.  It looks like any other of a thousand dive bars you can walk into in almost any town in Iowa.  But the food and service are great, definatly worth the trip!!!

Doolittle, you should read "the Sweet Season" written by SI writer, Austin Murphy. He spent an entire season on the sidelines with the Johnnies, and it gives insight to their program -- it's a fascinating read.

Gags is so humble -- his greatness truly comes from his humility. I wish their fans would pick that up....
