I would also like to extend my sympathies to the Huber family and the greater BV family in their loss.  Everything I have read about the SID tells me that he was class all the way and clearly set an example that so many of us would be wise to follow in facing adversity.

. . . As far as lack of interest in DI season tickets in the state, after reading the nice essay in the DMR on Iowa's caring and responsive culture towards alleged assaults (NOT) I couldn't blame anyone for losing interest in these "student athletes"

I know its unfair to lump them all together, but I've never been a Ferentz fan from the off-the -field behavioral side of things.  And yet another public intox with avoiding arrest this week. . . .

This whole "alleged" assault case is getting very messy and wreaks of a coverup. With this new letter coming out that was written by the mother of the victim, Someone's head will roll. I have no idea who, but somewhere down the line, someone new something and thought if it stayed in-house, it would go away.

18 arrests since April 2007

Iowa keeps getting in deeper , this new twist is bad even the gov is getting involved ??? ???

Here are my 2 cents on the younger Staker at Coe:  I was very impressed when he came and visited the school that I teach at.  He was very personable, interacted well with the kids, and gave a good recruiting pitch about Coe.   As anyone who has coached can tell you...you really have no clue what exactly you are doing in your first couple of season.  You prepare the best you can and make the best game day decisions that you can....that is about all that you can control.   As the famous saying goes...its not about the x's and o's...its about the jims and joes.

Walston...were you down at the Central Camp this past weekend?  We sent some kids down there and they said they had a GREAT time!

Walston did you go to the Central Camp?  Did you see #4 son there.  Said camp went well.  He is there this week as well.

Been so busy with work, Iowa Games, and keeping the two grandsons that I forgot to announce that our volley/softball player finally came.  8.5 pounds and 22 inches long.  nothing like getting them good sized from the start.

Congrats DF04. Hopefully I'll be along with some good news any day now, although technical due date isn't until 8/8, wife is pretty sure she'll go early.
The team camp that we are going to at Pella is Wed-Friday. Thursday looks to be the coolest day of the week so that should help things out a ton.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

8/8/08?  As a Wartburg Television alum, you have to do whatever you can to make this happen.

Congrats on the new addition to your family.  Hopefully adding a girl to the mix won't confuse you too much  ;D

Remember to spread the wealth to the other IIAC schools.  You have Wartburg and Central checked off.  Now you just need 7 grand kids to go to the 7 remaining conference schools!!!

Ooh, that would be soooo easy to remember the date as well.  Don't let your wife eat any spicy food and don't take her on any bumpy car rides to induce labor!!!

Early congrats to you as well!!!

My condolences to the BV family. Huber was a classy guy, and will be missed by many, many people. He really fought the disease with courage and grace.

(Sorry this was delayed --I've been offline, celebrating the anniversary of my last birthday. ;D I'm not all about this getting old stuff...how do you guys do it so gracefully? ;))

Congratulations, DF2004!  That is great news and you do know that Central has multiple national championships in both sports, right?  (Never too early to start recruiting!)  I hope and trust that all are doing well.

I will be the first to say that I am not a Hawkeye fan, nor am I a fan of D1 athletics as a whole.  I have always preferred DIII.  With my prejudices clearly stated, I would also say that I would hope that someone's head will role at Iowa for trying to keep things in house and cover up what happened.  I think the situation at Iowa is long over due for some attention.

I guess I still believe Coach Schipper's philosophy that football players need to be gentlemen first.  The multitude of arrests are bad enough, but pushing a woman who has been assulted to not go to the police is going too far.  It should bring shame and outrage to the entire university.
