Sports Page had only been open for about a week when I left town, so I can't really say anything about that place.
Salami's has pretty good food and a decent beer selection, but it gets pretty quiet after 10 or so.
Woody's is definitely the townie spot.  Never spent a night in there without expecting a fight to break out any minute.

As of the first of the year, those were the only options in town.

From the way you guys describe it, it seems alcohol consumption in Pella is done at home, after dark, with the lights out and the shades drawn.

You've been to our campus parties, then? ;)

I'm a little suprised that so few of the old stomping grounds remain. I mean, the bars were in short supply when I was there, but they sound pretty scarce now.

But, then again, Pella doesn't have the problems with public intox and other symptoms of over consumption that some schools have (*Iowa*) ...it's actually one of the things I liked down there. I never had to step over passed-out people when I was walking home from studying at the library. ;)

Once a semester as a measuring stick for your trips to the library does not seem to be a big sampling.   :D :D :D :D

Could be worse.  Could be like La Crosse where every year you are expecting that report of another college kid falling and drowning in the Mississippi after a night of drinking at the bars.

I'm a little offended that you are questioning my academic prowess....

There used to be a bar in Campustown in Ames called the Library. As in "But Dad, I spent Friday and Saturday nights at the Library!"
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Not at all.  Not questioning that you got good grades just where you spent you time ;D ;D ;D

This whole thing at Iowa is very disturbing to me and I know it has been talked about a lot and we do not know all the facts. I am finding it hard though to watch my beloved hawks this fall...it is embarrassing being a hawk fan right now. As for the freshman kid getting that public intox....some might say college kids are going to be college kids....I don't really agree with that. I know some of these minor in possesions and public intoxes are going to happen sometimes but it has been happening way too much in that program.

I know a lot of guys that made it through college, even made it through Iowa City for that matter that drank underage or were of age and really drunk, and they got away without ever getting arrested. Its pretty common knowledge that cops will leave you alone if you don't do anything stupid. Obviously these guys are doing something to draw attention to themselves.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships
