Congrats to Coach Koehler, even if I'm sorry he is leaving. When My son graudated from the Burg, Coach k said it was his first recurit class he was involved in. Coach Mitchell was the one that recurit my son. But I do remember talking to Koehler on my son recurit trip. Coach Willis was the head coach. Both Willis and Koehler never lied to my son and was always up  front with him. I sure the program willl not skip a beat with this chance.

Was anyone else reading the front page thinking, "He's baaaaaaack"?? With Willis back at the helm, everyone needs to watch out for Wartburg (AGAIN). He's amazingly talented and definitely knows the conference.

Congrats to Koehler on making the move to a higher level.

I don't get why Willis stepped aside in the first place.  Was he tired of coaching?  Why did Wartburg ever hire Koehler if thy still had Willis sitting in the next office?

All the moves were due to "the W" project. Then AD Grace was asked by JackO to become VP Business/Finance to oversee the project. Willis was asked to take over AD and be athletic dept. contact  on construction. With Koehler there and skilled enough to become FB coach the moves were done, even though there was a search for coach Koehler was pretty much the "heir apparent" at the time.  The  AD and FB coach had offices next door was because AD office is larger then most in coaches wing and near largest conf. room the assist fb coaches were positioned in exterior offices and made sense to have Head FB coach nearest them.

Hmmm... so the 'W Project' was a plan to expand the scope of Wartburg sports and such?

Well, this works well for Willis, it seems.  He gets to keep his 'W Project' promotion while returning to his football roll, which I bet he missed a bit as a guy would tend to do.

Well it looks to me like Wartburg took the opportunity to get a little more Ram-like by reinstating a Cornell grad as its head coach.

;D ;D ;D
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Hey quick question for ya, is this new addition to the knight offense the addition of suckow to that potent offense.  Just what i heard through the rumor mill, someone want to confirm.

Note the date signature on that post.  Apparently the last week of July is a typical time for change within the Wartburg football program.

I was thinking that myself last night that this was about the time that the suckow saga started.

Pretty sure it has been talked about before on here but wasn't at one time almost the entire staff at Wartburg made up of Cornell grads?

Coach Koehler must have been doing some roofing on the side up near Grand Valley State this past summer.  Nothing else motivated him. no outside help at all.

Old Dutch

Maybe Koehler was just watching films of the Dutch JV and decided to avoid his 3rd straight L to the perennial COY of the IIAC.    ::)

Completely changing the subject.  With all of the news coming from Iowa City about the trouble with athletes and alcohol what school prohibit their athletes from drinking during the season.  I know Central does becuase i have a good friend that plays for them.  I know Wartburg and Coe drink in season becuase i have been to both places and seen players drinking during season.  I'm pretty sure Simpson also has no rules but I have no idea about the other schools.  What are the other schools views about drinking during the season.

Hey folks. Long time no post. Just wanted to publicly acknowledge CooCooForCoeKohawks for generously hosting Team CoeBRAI in North Liberty. We had a great ride, even if we suffered our second straight kickball loss to the Knight Riders.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

What ever happened to the numbers game that we were playing?

What was the final result of the pick em's contest.  Wernt we talking about giving pre season ranking and weighting games?

Good Question. We missed out on #64 which I was really looking forward to.
Lets start at 76. That will time out with weekends and such to get us pretty much to week 1.
76 was Wartburg All American LT Jeff Voreis, now the OC at Juniata.

76 - The number one of the more famed olineman to come through BV in a while wore.  This is the same kid who broke his hand riding a horse two days before camp opened his sophmore season.  Mind you his response was he was taking it up to full speed before he crashed and burned :-\

SK1, I  believe he is coaching LB's.

By the way, I'd be interested to see how many IIAC alumni are now either a head coach, OC or DC and at what levels.

I'm sure there are many position coaches across the conference and at  D3 schools  but i'm more interested in seeing how many coordinators and head coaches are out there now.
(I guess throw in position coaches for D2 and above as well)
From what I know off the top of my head for football,
WB is representing Mich St, Grand Valley &  North Carolina Weselyan, Juniata- just saw Walston's post.
