FB: American Rivers Conference

I pull for the Madrid Tigers, the Roland-Story Norsemen, and whoever is playing Gilbert.

I have also developed a soft spot for the A-P Falcons, for the obvious reasons.

I aloso wonder about Iowa Falls-Alden. They must bus kids out of district because until this realignment, they were a 2A school. I don't have anything personally against them, just that they seem to be always playing 2A when they should be 3A.

This was talked about probably 2 years ago, but what HS teams do you pull for/follow and why.
I've gotta run to the bank and I will be back to talk about mine.

Strange that I like high school sports...but I really only pull for/follow Union of La Porte City.  In the days of the old NICL I suppose I would have rooted for any of the conference teams come playoff time.  But since they expanded the conference and since there is also football districts now.  I pretty much don't know who is who outside of following my home town team.

Having played a couple of sports in the NICL, I've never forgin Union of La Porte City for butchering my name in basketball....

Speaking of high schools, I noticed while checking BV's roster that they have quite a few players from very successful programs like Harlan and AP. One would think they would bring a winning culture with them coming form such regarded programs. I guess my question is what happened in the transition to college? Not that BV is pathetic, but these kids come from winning programs with long histories, and know how to win. Wouldn't BV benefit from those attitudes?

Green Mountian-Garwin!! Woot! Yeah we haven't done anything in football for 21 years but I'm still pullin' for the ole alma mater (Beat North Tama!).  Being as I'm from a place like that I'll always have a special place for all the small schools out there. Also, now that I'm in Dubuque, I tend to cheer for the Rams, Mustangs, and Eagles in 4A/3A.

Haha, yeah they do. There is talk of building a new gym (thank god).  The ceiling still isn't the greatest for volleyball games, but I almost don't mind how small the gym is. It makes us look like we can actually pack a gym every night.

School was completely torn down and will be ready to go next fall.

I didn't mind the gym being small and it always felt like there was a full house, but the ceiling was too low!

Everything is good in KC, especially w/ the cooler weather this week!  I'm not sure, but I'd like to make it back for a game this fall.  Will you be at most of the home games?

I didn't mind the gym being small and it always felt like there was a full house, but the ceiling was too low!

Compared to the cavernousness of ENP's gym, I can understand ur frustration coming down to Garwin.  Crazy too think that ENP and Hubbard Radcliff are schools of the past! I'm always worried that one of these days GMG will be in with East Marshall or something. It's weird to see it change over the years.

I'm old enough to remember when it was JUST Garwin...not GMG!!!

The consolidations are getting a bit out of hand.  We used to laugh at BCL-UW...now schools like AGWSR are the norm...and I hate the sound of I-35 high school!!!

These consolidations also get rid of those great nicknames in favor of "Cougars" and "Mustangs".  I'd kill to hear about teams like the UW Cobras, Green Mountain Mounties, Everly Cattlefeeders, and Sumner Aces again.
