Can't have anything contravertial...hence the Simpson Storm and the Luther Norse.  Which, by the way, when listening to announcers call a Luther game is always sounds like they are saying the Luther Norris.  Chuck Norris is hard core...maybe that wouldn't be so bad  ;D

Of course if you are talking about stumbling home from the Pour House, any wood at Kwik Star is amazing.

There are pills you can take for that nowadays.

WOW!  And the "W" key is not really all that close to the "F" key.
I guess if you don't have any luck at the bar, try the nearest conv store!!

Over 2 hours between posts on a Friday??? What is wrong with you people???
Question of the day-August 16-
This was talked about probably 2 years ago, but what HS teams do you pull for/follow and why.
I've gotta run to the bank and I will be back to talk about mine.

Green Mountian-Garwin!! Woot! Yeah we haven't done anything in football for 21 years but I'm still pullin' for the ole alma mater (Beat North Tama!).  Being as I'm from a place like that I'll always have a special place for all the small schools out there. Also, now that I'm in Dubuque, I tend to cheer for the Rams, Mustangs, and Eagles in 4A/3A.

Does GMG still play bball in the tiny gym w/ a maybe a 20 foot ceiling?

Haha, yeah they do. There is talk of building a new gym (thank god).  The ceiling still isn't the greatest for volleyball games, but I almost don't mind how small the gym is. It makes us look like we can actually pack a gym every night.  :P

Reffing VB and BBall games there was not fun.  You did have the ceiling to contend with all the time in VB and sometimes on last second shots in BBall.

KC, what high school do you come from???

E-NP (now South Hardin, I think)....

You are correct that is the name of the school since Hubbard-Radcliffe and ENP combined.  They are still the Tigers for the mascot.

KCDutch,

How are things down South?  Planning on catching any games this fall?
Everything is good in KC, especially w/ the cooler weather this week!  I'm not sure, but I'd like to make it back for a game this fall.  Will you be at most of the home games?

I am planning on making all the home games.  We may miss one in October as MRS DF2K4 and I are planning on a vacation in Sunny California then but we will see.

I'm old enough to remember when it was JUST Garwin...not GMG!!!

The consolidations are getting a bit out of hand.  We used to laugh at BCL-UW...now schools like AGWSR are the norm...and I hate the sound of I-35 high school!!!

I have heard rumblings that GMG had thought about going with BCLUW can you imagine that one BCLUWGMG  ;D ;D ;D  That would be an alphabet soup school name then.  I have also heard that AGWSR is hurting numbers wise again.  I don't know where they would go then.  I think that they would split up.  Some go to Hampton, Grundy, South Hardin and Iowa Falls.  Not good for the small towns out here.

When Wellsburg-Steamboat rock merged with Ackley-Geneva they really should have just split up.  Steamboat Rock should have gone in with Eldora and everyone south of Wellsburg should have gone to Grundy Center and everyone north should have gone to Ackley.

I had thought Hubbard was going to go in with Eldora and Radcliffe was going to go in with South Hamilton or whatever school it is out by Jewell.  I guess they changed plans!!!

I have also heard that Gladbrook has been less than thrilled with going in with Reinbeck and looked at joining GMG or maybe even joining with North Tama (Traer)

My dad has noted that Iowa schools were tops in the nation when we had all these small school districts.  Now that we are consolidating in the name of better schools for the kids we are slipping!!!

I follow the teams in the towns where I served ... except that starting in Dubuque, I don't keep track of any of the Dubuque high schools.  But I do try to keep track of the RHAM Sachems (Regional Hebron, Andover, Marlborough), Andover, Connecticut ... Morton Potters, Morton, Illinois, and the Minnetonka Skippers, Excelsior, Minnesota.

Last but not least, I still keep track of my high school, the Lodi High School Flames, Lodi, California ... where I played wing-back in the old single wing ... with black high tops and leather helmets (that was in the 50's)!

WH didn't ask ... but a graduate degree from UNI keeps me on the trail of the Panthers ... and with a wife who graduated from Illinois ... I faithfully follow the Illini as well ... and this could be a banner year for them in the Big Ten.

But of course ... there always is ...

GO SPARTANS!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Williamsburg..Worked with a lot of the kids and Coach Ritchie was my high school coach
Dowling..Know some of the staff and Coach Wilson was my 4th grade teacher.

I have a lot of ties to the conference.  I played football at both Wartburg and Cornell. So I favor those two programs.

I do have some former players at Central and have had some very positive interactions with their staff over the last couple seasons. So I root for them when they aren't playing my alma matter.

Still the Tigers as long as you weren't a Rebel to start with!

Glad to have you here! Since you've played for both the Knights and the Rams, we'll be most interested in your point of view.

Speaking of Cornell, has anyone seen ShowMe lately? He hasn't posted for a couple of days now.
