is this the most Cornell fans on the board at the same time?

I know crazy huh?  Either there must be something on the horizon and/or we all just care that much...

This makes me wonder though, will Central change its style of play after losing its starting QB and All-Everything RB?  I seem to remember smaller, quicker backs when Schuring was hurt and wonder if this will cause a style change in the Central offense.

There isn't a team in this league that you can take lightly on any given Saturday.  And that's what makes this conference so great!!!
Welcome TECN, good to have another Cornell fan on board.

I'm sure Central will change its style of play, the question is what will they change it to?  You can't lose two players the quality of Connell and Schuring and not change.  Heck, we probably would not have seen how good Connell really was if Schuring had not been hurt in the first place.  So will we change back to a run the first 2 downs every time, and then throw on 3rd because we have to, or will we continue to pursue emphasis on the pass so that the running can be more effective.  I can't wait to find out!  I have to say, it was refreshing to not know what we would do on offense pretty much every play.  Connell proved we could be successful without relying on the run.  It is going to be fun to see how things shake out.

As to having to be prepared every game, Central sure learned that last year with so many injuries early in the season.  We had to do a lot of come from behind work last year and I think it made us a much better prepared team.  We knew that we could not take any game for granted.  Fans from other teams might think we were taking their teams too lightly or were over rated when we needed our 4th quarter/3rd OT magic.  We knew that the conference was better and we had to deal with injury losses against a conference full of solid teams.  There was no week that you could relax.

Let's hope it works out, I've wished/hoped enough on the board for them to confuse it with smack talk.
Nothing wrong with wishing and hoping, ShowMe, as long as you remember to pair it with a good dose of reality at the same time.  It's when you forget the reality that your wishes get confused with smack talk.

I'm sorry, but I had to post something.  Now I am not one to talk about grammar, because I really suck at it...but maybe someone else that studying english and writing more than I did tell me if there is something wrong with the name TrainsEqualsCrowdNoise???  For myself, I would think TrainsEqualCrowdNoise or TrainEqualsCrowdNoise is how it is suppose to be...but def. not two plurals back to back....but then again it is a Cornell fan.

But then again...i've been wrong before - just thought it was funny

Haha, Yep you got me.  It was supposed to read "TrainsEqualCrowdNoise" but in my haste to apply to the board I forgot to give a quick glance back at the name to make sure it was grammatically correct.  I've been looking for a way to fix it, but so far have been unsuccessful.  :-\

Kicking game...don't get me started.

My next biggest concern for the Rams is the ability to put a complete game together - 4 quality quarters per game.

With that will come some IIAC wins.

The main issue is depth...At practice, on special teams, in terms of backups to make plays if a starter goes down.  Cornell, judging by the numbers being reported by all the rest of youse, will have to make do with lesser numbers.  That's a tough order for a short roster to sustain for a full season in one of the Black and Blue conferences in D3 and the bumps and bruises accumulate.

You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Did I miss Hell freezing over or something...a Coe grad correcting someone's spelling or diction?

:D

Yeah, I have looked for that in the profile but unfortunately there isn't a place to change the spelling of the profile name.  I clicked on everything there was to click on and still no luck.  It is quite possible I am missing something, but as of now still no luck.

I know Heys, I was shocked as well that a kohawk was the first one to mention it.

One could argue now to call Forbes and have them swap the 2 schools in the standings  ;D ;D ;D ;D

For some reason on my Profile screen, I don't have an option to click on an "Account Related Settings" link.  Anyone have any idea how I can fix this or why I wouldn't have that link?

I agree that Cornell will have a difficult time on the O-line. The O-line helped them move the ball regardless of who was behind center last season. They lost two arguably good receivers in Youngblood and Krogmann.

The defense will probably be the one thing that will shine for Cornell, and keep them in a few games.

As far as Dallas, will they make him a pocket passer, option QB, or both?

Spoke to an incoming freshman at Central this weekend and was pretty upset to here this story. It sounds like Central has around 140 guys in camp, which seems pretty high, but the part that bothers/worries me is the fact that in this particular players recruitment he was told that they wouldn't have more then 115 to 120 guys on the team and that he would have plenty of reps in practice. I would hope that Central just had more people show up then they actually recruited, which is a very realistic possibility. From hearing from a few people some of the coaches on the staff were pretty upset with the numbers and felt they were to high. It seems like when you get up over 130 players, your opportunities in practice are very limited and some very good players can be looked over. Is this a case of over recruiting to keep players from other schools? I sure don't know, Central was always one of the best and classiest programs that I ever played against so I don't think that this was the case. Any word from anyone closer to the program on this?

I know you guys think I'm delustional but like I said, it's more difficult to coach a talented team.
Everybody wants to go with the winner. The real players want to go make the winners  :)

Time will tell

I'm sure if you polled every coach in every sport, you would find that all of them want all the talent they can get. It may be less of a challenge knowing what to do with one or two exceptional players instead of 20, but i'd rather have 20 exceptional players instead of one or two.

In regards to Central, whe footballkid waas recruited he was told that they like to keep incoming classes to around 40. He was also told that he may be a senior before he got significant playing time. I wouldn't think Mac would be any less forthright with this year's recruits. I do know a t Wartburg that 135 is a lot easier to handle that the almost 170 they had last year.

I'm not totally sure how Central operates their practices now, but I do know that I came from a pretty good HS program where we were very well drilled in the fundementals, and the "perfect play" drills a high priority.  When I arrived at Central, amidst a lot of recruits, what amazed me was the repetition intensity.  There was no standing around at practice and we were happy to find a bed at the end of the day.  Coach Schipper was a master at scheduled practices and milking the most out of a day.  I assume that Coach Mac does the same.

New posters don't have access to that (we've had some issues) but I made the change.

Note, TECN, you still have to log in with the same username you originally selected. It will display with the new spelling, however.
