If I remember correctly (and I may not)  but Cornell's troubles were stopping both the run and pass against Central the last three years.  I think stopping the run and pass will have to be the norm in the IIAC if you want to put W's on the board.

That may be true but the running attack causes the most problems, eats up the clock, tires out the defenders, etc.

By stopping the runs, it forces the offense to be one dimensional, passing which is a higher risk.

So if Cornell can stop Central from running the ball effectively, Central will be closer to losing.

And IF my aunt had a sex change, she would be my uncle.

Somebody on here mentioned the book...maybe oldnorse or thunderbolt.  I asked my wife and she found it on ebay or amazon or someplace on the net.  Fun book to read.  The forward for the book was written by William Petersen.  The superintendant of the Iowa Historical Society.  Not only was he a Dubuque alum...but was also my sisters neighbor while she was in med school at Iowa in the 1980's!!!

I'm a sucker for old obscure facts that are really of no interest to anybody but myself...I drive my wife crazy with that.

If I recall we scored more with pass plays including the rain storm at Ash Park two years ago then we did running.  So I don't stopping the run is going to help if they can not stop the pass as well.  Even if you make a team one dimensional if you can not stop the other dimension that will still lead to a defeat will it not.

If I were coaching against Central,

I would stop the run first then stop the pass and then stop the pass.

And yes you can win with the pass only

No Connell, Schuring, and with the replacements they are having to find up front, I think I would put a lot of pressure on the o-line and quarterback and let the chips fall where they may after that.

Oh and on a final note, these are the players I think people should watch for or need to have big seasons for the Rams to succeed: Travion Hardman(RB), Alex Macey (TE), Don Bladt (DB), and Brian King (LB)

I really hope King is a good linebacker, LB's is a key position to stop the run and would help things fall into place for Cornell.

Why is he a player to watch?

Charlie Kohawk

There were a bunch of physical specimens on display today at Coe's media day. Tate Harrison, particularly, looked ready to take some heads off. Calvin Thomas, Jordan Pinckney, Jordan Wilkens and, of course, Tommy Breitbach, all looked much bigger that last year. Of course, I'm much smaller than last year, so maybe it's a wash. Let the games begin.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi
