If i wouldn't have gone to Loras I would have been a Knight over in Waverly

Talk about a bad decision!  Instead of learning your craft for people like me and TheOne, you instead became a Duhawk.  Hopefully you develop better judgement in the next few years.

Visited Central with great respect for their football program and liked the campus, but was not impressed with the music side of things at all so if I went there it was just going to be football.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I don't know if they still do it, but Central used to give out T-shirts on visits and I took 2 or 3 visits there so I had a few shirts. I wore them all the time because they were comfy, and who doesn't like a free T-shirt. I happened to be wearing one the day the yearbook decided to take a bunch of pictures my sr year so I have a ton of pics in a Central shirt.
There were two places in the IIAC I didn't get recruited to, Cornell (who I probably would have listened to because I had some teachers I really liked that went there), and Simpson, and Coach WIlliams tells me that he made a great decision there. Oh well, I got him all 4 years.

It was emailed to me by a certain RJ McElroy Chair in Communication Arts after the "WTV Senior Salute" in 2003.  I knew holding onto it would come in handy.

Can't remember who asked and I am too lazy to go back and look but to answer the question about the class schedule at Cornell...it is one class for 3 1/2 weeks then you get a 4-5 day break because sometimes classes are done on a tuesday instead of a wednesday. Class times are usually two hours long from 9-11 and 1-3. Some classes will meet twice a day and others only in the morning or only in the afternoon.

Man, that is AWESOME! I knew we could bring you to the dark side!

4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Just saw the Cornell media day report on KGAN (don't ask). Coach Dillon said they're not interested in being a "one shot wonder." I'm wondering when that shot was fired, because it sure hasn't been in a conference game. I sure wish the scheduling gods hadn't put the Coe-Cornell game first on the conference schedule. It's much better if the Rams get their conference win before facing the Kohawks, winners of eight straight in the oldest series west of the Mississippi.

Regardless, I'll be having a blue cheese burger and a Fat Tire or two at Chameleons at some point that day.

... We've had a busy offseason

BeaverOfYore

At our current pace, we will catch the MIAC page in about 15 years, 8 months.  We better step it up a notch.
When it's 3rd and 10, you can take the milk drinkers, and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time.

I have never been a fan of Purple or purple and black but those are some UGLY socks.

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

You are right Chuck, I must have missed it in there somewhere as well. No idea when they used fired the shot. Maybe there was a silencer on.

KGAN Reporter: "The Iowa Conference has been dominated by 3 teams- Waverly, Central, and Coe."
Pretty good for a 3A HS team to compete in the always tough IIAC.

"Everybody in the conference always downplays us, thinks that we're not going to do anything," said Cornell running back Travion Hardman.
Yep. And until they do, we will continue to think that.
Lots of talk coming from Mt Vernon right now.

If I hadn't ended up at UD, I probably would have gone back to California for school.  I grew up there ... went to junior college for 2 years and then transferred to Wheaton ... found it wasn't a good fit ... and then transferred to UD sght unseen on the basis of a meeting with UD's Chicago area Admissions Counselor.   That turned out to be a much better match for me in terms of the size of the town ... size of the student body ... and opportunities for campus involvement.  My only contact with the other IIAC schools was traveling with teams (basketball and baseball) to keep stats ... or football to do broadcasts ... and I'm not sure if I would have felt the same "fit" at any other of the schools.  In those days, Loras, Cornell and Coe weren't part of the conference ... but William Penn and Upper Iowa were.

So . . .

GO SPARTANS!
