From the looks of the picture, he is at one of two places--Gull Point or Miller's Bay.  Both are places where many, many people, ranging in age from 10-80, beach their boats and party together.  Often, parents of older children tag along, both to have fun and party like in their younger days and also to make sure the boat they paid for makes it back in one piece.  I've seen many soccer moms holding beer bongs not because they're encouraging binge drinking, but because their kid thinks it's funny to see them doing something so out of character.  Maybe we should be applauding the guy for being the DD (if that was the case).  I can assure you there were much worse things going on at the same locale that day, and the lakes area is populated mostly by doctors, lawyers, and successful entrepreneurs.  It might surprise some people, but intelligent, successful people like to have fun, too.

Don't get me wrong, I think he should probably be more careful--especially when there are cameras around.  I just think a lot of people are making a big deal without knowing the context of the situation.

People may or may not be making a big deal out of the situation, but how does it go, perception is 9/10 of the truth?  At least from the looks of the picture we do know a few things, either him and his son have major "game" and those girls look good in bathing suits.  Other than that its his fault for putting himself in this situation and not doing a better job of making sure he had everyone's camera, that's something good ole slick Willy(Bill Clinton if you missed it) would have done.

Well if we're not criticizing his actions, but rather his inability to keep them secret, doesn't that mean we're really deriding the guy for being a poor liar?

Let's not forget that we're talking about the prez of Iowa Central.  The only way that place qualifies as an institute of higher learning is that most of the students are baked 24/7.  This is probably all part of their new recruiting strategy to diversify the campus by recruiting drunks along with the normal potheads, white trash, and aspiring Waldorf Warriors (redundant, I know).

Oh that's precious. I may use that in the office.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

In certain positions you need to maintain the job 24/7.  Pastors and college presidents are two of the positions that come to mind.  You may not be at the office, but you are never off the clock.  I would think it is time for ICCC to find a new leader.  This guy may not have manure on is boots, but he's been close enough to the hog pen to make him smell like he does.

By all means we should criticize his actions as he is a college president.  All I was trying to say was that we would not even be having this conversation about him though if he would not have been in any of the pictures.  So, he was dumb for one putting himself in that situation to begin with, two for allowing pictures to be taken while he was in that situation, and three for lying about being the person in the photos then coming back and saying that he was indeed in the photo.  All around this shows this guy has no foresight and anyway you look at it, is not the person any college should want running things regardless if he did anything wrong or not.

WH:  Nice article on the CIML today in the Register.  What do you know about the returning running back out of U'dale.  Sounds like they are looking for big things out of him this season.  Is he any good?  Also whats the status on their new stadium?  I saw they are playing tonight at Johnston.

He's above average talent, but I wouldn't put him with the likes of Woody yet. He also doesn't have the supporting cast that Woody has. Apparently they have been practicing on their new field, but some of the stands aren't completed yet so that is why they have to play at Johnston tonight vs Lincoln. That will be a very good test for both teams as I think Lincoln will be down after losing a couple D1 players from last year's team and Urbandale should be a little better.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

what do you all think of simpson this year? they will move up the standings for sure. new coach is getting it going and they have alot of experience returning plus the transfer qb is really good. had some tough losses last season but learned from em

Predictions:
1. Wartburg- defense will win this championship
2. Central- great tradition, but not enough to pull one off this year
3. Simpson- most improved and will beat central but will drop one somewhere
4. Dubuque- questions, questions.
5. Coe- usually find way to compete, but loss of coach to much
6. Buena Vista- best of the rest
7. Luther- lost too much offense
8. Loras- loosing streak will be 10 before they get 1st one this year and could get real bad if Cornell finds a way to get them
9. Cornell- not yet

i think simpson will be better this year then in years past as well, but how can a team be the most improved without playing a game yet?

Nice article on Nico. I knew he was new to the game when he got to Wartburg, but didn't know how he learned it. Good stuff.

I think if you look at the post he stated that this was predictions.  So I think his opinion is ok till proven wrong.

Anyone who thinks Central needs Houdini to beat Simpson has rabbits in his hat.  A little prestidigitation might be needed early in the season but, by the time Simpson gets to town, Central will be a team of seasoned veterans.  The Storm will feel like they have been sawed in two and made to disappear.

And on the subject of the ICCC prez, I am reminded of the words of W.C. Fields, "I'd rather have two women of 21 than one of 42."  I probably have the numbers wrong, but you get the message.
