I am surprised that Snead is still a QB, as good of QB as he was, I alway thought his true calling was at safety or SLB.

Labor Day weekend-
Got to sleep about 2 Saturday morning at the mercy of my 2 week old. Had to be at school at 6:30 to grade tape and got out of there about 11 after going through it with the kids.
Spent the rest of the day on the couch watching football, drifting in and out of consciousness. I saw the first quarter of the Missouri/Illini game and that's all she wrote.
Took the new daughter to church for the first time Sunday, and like any good Lutheran, we sat in the back and she slept the entire service.
Back to school at 12:30 to start getting ready for Valley this week. Home at 7 and watched again the first half of CU/CSU and to be honest with you, I never did check who won.
Went for a walk with my 2 year old on Monday morning, watched some HS football on ESPN and was at school at 2 for football again. Home at 7 and in bed by 9 last night.
In Summary-pretty uneventful weekend.

I do not think I would go chagning my predictions for the season based on Wartburgs scrimage.  Yordi is a good QB and as long as the boys will follow him they will still be at the top.  As much as I would like to see a changing of the guard at the top, I do not see it this season.  Maybe we will have a suprise, like Cornell winning a ball game ;)  Sorry Heys and Ash I just wanted to stir brother ShowMe up a bit.  One more week until the IIAC kicks off and we get to see how boys hit the ground running.

You know what the dog said when the lawn mower ran over his tail, it won't be long now!

and it just might be Wartburg too! It's not impossible!

Sounds like Wartburg better give it up for this year and start focusing on next year. I hope we can keep it within 3 scores against the mighty rams.

We took our daughter to the water park in Pella on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It was the closing weekend for the water park and it is a favorite of my wife and daughter. I did catch the first half of the Iowa game. I talked to a few Central football players at the water park on Sunday. I was joking with them that Coach Schipper would have only used the water park for conditioning.

I also heard some scuttlebut (not from the players) that Central may be moving one of their quarterbacks to another position to try and get their best athletes on the field. Don't know if this is true or just old grads gossiping.

That is true.  Lackey was moved to defense.  He will be playing stinger.

After hearing about Central and Wartburg struggling in their scrimmages...I think I will get ready to print out my "Dubuque - 2008 IIAC Football Champions" t-shirts!!!

Then again, I just might wait to see how things play out on the gridiron!!! Only 4 more days!!!

Wait people it was a scrimage Simpson didn't even play all their people in theirs. This week the bullets fly last week was like a play date ??? ??? ???

Since the season is almost here.  And since there was a book written about the first 40 years of the Iowa Conference...and I have now been alive for 40 Iowa Conference seasons.  Here are the conference titles won in football over the last 40 seasons.

21 - Central
8 - Wartburg
5 - Simpson
3 - Coe
3 - Dubuque
3 - Buena Vista
3 - Luther
3 - William Penn
0 - Cornell 10 years in conference
0 - Loras 21 years in conference

I was being quite sarcastic. Tough to do when you can't see my face.
I should have added a smily.
I remember routinely getting what seemed like whipped up on in scrimmages in college. I think the only one I played in was when I was a backup my soph year. If you had so much as a scratch, and had played before, you were usually held out go get some younger guys experience.

Well, if anyone can have a stellar season, but still manage to lose to a middle- to a bottom-feeder team, it's Wartburg*. Cornell, do you guys have a victory bell to ring?  ;D

A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

Walston Hoover

That's not quite accurate-
Luther's 2005 team only finished 1 spot below Wartburg in the standings. In 2004, BV was in the drivers seat for a conf title up to the very end but choked. The rest I will give you though. Barely on UD in '06. But definitely on Augsburg and Loras.

Yea, sure, you just don't want us to find a good QB.   ;)  He looked very good on the running plays to me.

I agree with you on the running plays.  He looked the the same QB that we have had the last three years running the option and on the QB options.
