QuoteVideo streaming a hit for Luther Athletic Department
Posted: Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 by Decorahnews.com

Last spring's experiment with video streaming of Luther College athletic events was so successful that Luther will offer video streaming of at least 41 athletic events this school year.

Luther Sports Information Director Dave Blanchard says 220 people logged on last spring to watch a Luther versus Wartburg basketball game on the Internet. The video streaming was especially popular with out-of-town parents of athletic team members.

In fact, Luther's experiment with video streaming of athletic events was such a success that Wartburg, Coe, Loras and other Iowa Conference colleges have decided to follow suit. That led to a joint contract between the schools and the same video streaming provider.

Luther will broadcast all home football games this fall, starting with this Saturday's game. A complete video streaming schedule is available at the Luther sports website, http://sports.luther.edu

That's interesting because Dubuque has been using Stretch Internet since 2005.  If these other schools go with Stretch and offer video and Dubuque doesn't I will scream!!!  Then again, the UD President did tell me at the Wartburg game last year there would be video streaming.  So who knows.  With those schools offering video at least Purple Heys could watch his son half of the time...he'd just have to listen to the other teams announcers!!!

W'loo Courier article on WC running backs Alex Boom and Tim Jones

http://wcfcourier.com/articles/2008/09/02/sports/local/10579669.txt

Gentlemen, time for a little Straight Talk,

The Wartburg roster list both Mr. Boom and Mr. Jones at  5' 11". Take a look at the picture in this article. It looks like Mr. Jones is at least 2" taller than Mr. Boom. Now something is not right, help me to understand. I'm thinking it's called paper intimidation.  Are the mighty Knights engaged in physiological warfare? Is this a sign of confidence?

physiological
  adj.

   1. Of or relating to physiology.
   2. Being in accord with or characteristic of the normal functioning of a living organism.
   3. Of or being an additive primary color.

Aren't you Cornell people supposed to be smarter than the rest of us?

Seriously, I didn't even look at the picture until now, but I think it was in second grade art class that I learned about a little thing called perspective.  You notice how that building in the background looks bigger at one end than the other?  That's because one end is closer to the photographer from this particular vantage point, not because Wartburg hired a cut-rate contractor.  I think this is a pretty simple concept to understand.  I hope I didn't explode your brain with such fancy, high-falutin' "physiological" high-minded talkin'.

Lets see, Sat. went to Pella, picked up some new Central gear at the Sports Page a fresh bottle of scotch, then played some golf.   More golf with eldest son today, but as the talked turned to FB the putting got worse and worse.  that must be why I don't golf much in the fall, even less focus than normal!!

You sure the scotch is not the reason the putting got worse and worse???  ;D

didn't tap the scotch until the 19th hole.  Maybe I should have, a little "swing lube" always helps my game!

Give me a break on the straight talk brother ShowMe.  I would be VERY suprised if every team in the IIAC did not give an inch here or there or add a pound here or there.  I was listed my freshman year at 240.  I was more like 230, but as an o-lineman it looked better.

Sounds like you might be trying to find an excuse for your Rams when they come up short again in the win column.

That's it, I've had enough.

You need to come up with some new catch phrases or something more substantial to talk about.  Either that or just put a sock in it until your team backs it up for you.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with fans of every school in this league being optimistic and hopeful for their team's chances this season.  But all this verbal diarrhea that you keep spewing needs to be scaled back a bit.

You boys need to lighten up. Too much tension before the first game.

ShowMe

Look's like the Knights can give it but not very good at taking it. I wonder what the attitude would be if the Knights were the last place team battling for respect?

It doesn't take much to hear the whining now. Please don't lose the title, it want be pretty around the board.

Things that make you go ??????????

OMG, check it out!  I think we have a scandal on our hands!  Former BV QB Hawkins was listed at 6' last year but this UNALTERED photo shows that he is clearly 12'+!  Obviously someone (I'm looking at you, BV SID) is engaging in scatological warfare!

Well, that's it,

I've had enough of the popping off from you too!

Don't get me wrong, we all have opinions but the verbal arrogance is way out of line.

Opinions are like a$$ holes, we all have one, so don't come off like one because yours smell too!

For the Record,

ShowMe is fully aware of the challenges that Cornell faces and they are large. The challenges only fire up my pride, along with the negative comments from by fellow bloggers with the attitude that we cannot hope for better days.

Should the mighty Rams fall shorts in 2008, the world will not end, my pride will not be shaken, I will look forward to 2009 and I hope those that have expressed offensive negative commnets enjoy your dose of reality.

Remember, America loves an underdog
