My favorite tailgate foods are the following.

Beer Brats
Burgers
Red Hots
BBQ Ribs
Screwdrivers/Bloody Marry's

My fat friends and I tend to do quite the spread when we tailgate.  It not uncommon for us to be sweating gibblets off while cooking up a storm.  We cooked ribs and frozen them for the Orange Bowl.  Last year for the game in Chicago we made beans, beer brats, burgers, and hot dogs all morning long.  It turns into quite the festivity.

I love tailgating and do not get me wrong by my statements here but I really hate it when you have a person who comes to your tailgate eats and then leaves.  They do not bring anything and are just mooching off you.  My favorite quote was from a girl who came by and ate two hamburgers and slamed 5 beers.  "Its tailgating, thats what you do walk around eating and drinking".  A man of less moral integrity might have slapped her.

Ribs, dont know how i could forget those... Best in Iowa: Hickory House in W'loo.  Had them for every game.

No doubt the best I've had in IA. Well worth the trip. Not far from the the old stompin' grounds.  :P

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

s_t65:
The one thing I find a little suprizing is the relative small size of Wartburg's freshman class. (49)
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I would expect Coach Willis will have more new Knights next year.

Anybody more "in the know" can feel free to correct me, but I think Koehler was putting more of an emphasis on quality than quantity in the recruiting plan this year.  Didn't want quite as big a class, but was looking to get just as much talent in a smaller overall number.

Oh, and as far as people being a little more snippy right before the season starts...Ask WH and TheOne about me.  I'm always this much of an a$$hole.

It's true.  Try working with the guy for 4 years and living near him for 2.  Kind of like spending Christmas time with AEN all school year long.

I seem to remember spending BIG $'s feeding you before Naz shows. Also SB party @ the Neumann house had to be worth the hassle of CWAISOW. Did you ever make the DM show pre-game meal @ Noah's Ark?

Tailgating favorites for me are simple...

Hamburgers
Brauts
Chips
Pretzel Dip...brought to my attention last year on this board!!!
Smokies wrapped in bacon
Bloody Marys with a beef stick
Comfy chairs
Radio to listen to other games
a football to toss around
location close to a porta potty...but not too close ;D

MNbeev

Tailgating for myself...chiming in late.

Beer.
Wake up, eat...
Beer.

The rib eye sandwiches before the Wartburg-Simpson game last year were yummy!
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I make some mean baked beans just ask sportsknight.

Those were damn good.  But didn't have too much "baked bean after effects" to have a negative impact on my sideline reporting.  ;)

As for other tailgate foods, I'm always up for a good burger or brat.  I'm pretty easy to please that way.  Pork burgers are usually a welcome change of pace.  Also, TheOne's pretzel dip is a must have.

That is why I always make 239 baked beans.  Why you ask cause if you use one more bean they then tofarty beans.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Best tailgating I've ever been around was when ISU was playing in the Independence Bowl"the first time"
Tons of LSU fans were there cheering against Alabama and brought their party with them. Some of the best jambalaya I've ever seen/eaten.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Hmm, I wonder if we could hit 1,300 tonight???

Has anybody ever had a bad tailgating experience???

For me some may have been better than others...but I can't say I have ever had a bad one.

U of Iowa for me.

Worst I suppose I could say UNI...because I have never seen any tailgating going on there.  I suppose there is somewhere, but I have never seen it.

Can we suprise PH by making 1300 before he lands?

Who is missliz31???  I see someone new lurking on here

I would be curious what some on here might think of as a bad tailgating experiance.  For some it might be something simple like running out of beer  :o  For others it might be parking next to drunks from a rival school and tried to get in a fight.

For me, nothing bad has ever happened.  We've had fun times even when tailgating at visiting stadiums.
