Congrats to Central's Brett Doud, named to D3football's 2nd team Defense. He is the only player representing the IIAC in the preseason selection...

coocoo,

I don't think that the Shrine Game is all that important.  With the way they choose kids to play there is alot of politics involved.  It isn't always the best players playing.  Enough about that.

The season is starting to heat up.  We are down to less than 6 weeks to the season starting.  Does Coe have an intersquad game or an alumni game.  What do they do to get the season started.  How about the rest of the IIAC teams what do they all do?  I would like to know being a fairly newcomer to the conference.

I also would like to start the season with a GOOD LUCK TO ALL IIAC TEAMS.  I hope the first two weeks we can rack up some victories.

Little Warthog  joined the list of married persons this weekend.   All went well.  I think everyone had a good time.  The younger crowd checked out Beavers based on several recommendations that have come across these pages.  Part of the wedding party checked it out after rehersal dinner on Friday.  It must have passed the test of discriminating Wartburg Knight and UNI Panther  tastes since some of the same crowd was discussing a return engaement after the reception broke up a little before mid-night on Saturday.

It was good to see some former Knights and catch up on the latest chapters of their lives.  Wartburg has a fine group of young alumni.  It is great to see them moving on from college and making successful careers.

I made the trek to Ames on Saturday to get a first-hand look at Davenport Assumption kicker Jeff Schebler in the Iowa Shrine Game.  The consensus  first-team All-State kicker appears to be a great catch for the UW-Whitewater football program.

Congratulations to all the Warthog family, and the new addition. She couldn't be joining a nicer family.

Any idea how big of part your former GA, Pat Toohey had in landing Schebler. Assumption is his old school.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Walston - Having Coach Toohey on staff was the primary reason Whitewater pointed its recruiting effort towards Schebler.  Having Keegan Brennen, another former Assumption player at Whitewater sure didn't hurt.  Schebler also is lseeking for a business degree and Whitewater's business program is very strong.

Pat Toohey did a great job with UW-Whitewater's young defensive line last year and good luck to him as he heads back to his alma mater.

Hey Guys --

I passed through Waverly on my way back from the Twin Cities yesterday.  I went over to the WB campus and was blown away by just how "naked" things look without the Gym/PEC there.  I mean the whole thing is gone.  It's unbelievable.  Still, I'm glad that they're making some much needed renovations.

If all goes to plan, I could be in town for the season opener vs. Monmounth.  Should be exciting.

Warthog -- Congrats to your family.  Was this my old RA that he got hitched to, or is it another lucky lady?

Congratulations to the Warthog clan in accepting a fine Manchester native into your family. Glad all enjoyed "Beaver's" in Manchester -- small town bar extraoridaire, second only to "Joe's Knight Hawk" in Waverly. :)

I didn't know how well known Joe's Knighthawk was until I went out to a bar in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and it was the talk of the town.  Everyone knows where it is.

QuoteThe award (at least back in 2004 - most recent I could find!) goes to Long Beach Poly High School in  Long Beach, CA.  They had 6 NFL alums in 2004: Marques Anderson, OAK; Larry Croom, ARZ; Willie McGinest, NE; Samie Parker, KC; Omar Stoutmire, NYG; Brandon Whiting, SF.

...and just the trivia you were hoping to hear, the coach is a LINFIELD graduate!

Wartburg, will be keeping an eye on you with your new coach. Please keep one on us.

What do you get when 3 Wartburgers invade Woody's in Pella on a Thursday night? A good time had by the only 3 guys in the bar, that's what.
Just kidding there were a couple more townies in there but I was a little disappointed in Pella's nightlife Dutchie

Question for all of you Wartburg fans......

Is there a place to tailgate before the game?  Either send me a message or just reply, either one

Central and IIAC fans may be interested to see that former Coach Kacmarynski has landed at Division II UNC-Pembroke as their offensive coordinator.
