It's hard to get excited this week with Central not playing.  It's like you wait forever for football to come again, get one little taste and then it's back to waiting.  I'm sure we will be talkative next week.

I figured the silence was because of the Central Nations lowered expectations for this season  ;D ;D ;D
After UD's domination last week, I think everyone else is playing for 2nd place in the conference.  I heard UD is already printing shirts w/ 2008 IIAC football champions the UD Spartans.

Call Aurther Bryant's, I hear they just got a shipment of them in this morning.
Only Arthur Bryant's I'm aware of is AB's BBQ in KC.  I'm more of an Oklahoma Joe's or Jack Stack BBQ fan myself.

Since you're in Chicago, anybody disappointed Jay Marriotti quit the Sun-times?  Most things I read, the masses are glad he is gone.  Also, I read today he might be landing over at the Tribune.

....Luther uniforms, helmets, logo..

The helmets of the 50's were gold with a Norseman logo on  each side.  The change to white came gradually as they could afford to buy new ones.  Numbers on the helmets came later.
I have never cared for the current logo as was painted on the 50 yard line and is the Norse current logo.  It looks too much like a cartoon character of the comic page.  The U of Iowa changed its logo from a chicken hawk to its current logo.  Good change....shows more aggression.  Luther should do the same instead of being a comic character.

They just need to tweek it

Go Norse! Rockets!

Just wait, 5 Words.  When the Rockets of Luther play the Rams of Cornell it will be a blood bath of mythic proportions...............as long as Luther doesn't play as the Rockettes as they have sometimes done.

I'll notify the Red Cross

I have always heard that Authur Bryants was in a terrible area and not worth the drive.

In regards to JM...I have not heard that.  I have been enthralled in work and have not been paying attention.  I did read his article in yesterday's paper and the last thing that I heard was the the Sun Time inked him to a large contract a few months ago.  This just must have developed today.  I have always thought he was a loud mouth idiot who changes his mind more than a 8th grade girl about who she is going to take to her first formal dance.  When the Cubs were winning it was hooray Lou!!! Now hes back to his Cubdom BS about how the Black Cat of 1969 just showed back up.  Good riddance to poor trash if you ask this hobo.

I wonder...are the Spartans flying out today to arrive Thursday or do they Fly in Friday?

That extra day to acclimate could make all the difference.

Flying dehydrates.  Redlands is dry, so you don't seem to sweat...it dries off you before you know it...I could see DBQ kids cramping up.

Would be shame to lose opportunities that way, when playmakers are debilitated.

I think someone posted earlier that the Spartans flew out on Thursday.

Yes, the Spartans flew to Redlands thursday.  Hopefully they play better than how I suspect the Buckeyes will fare against the Trojans that same night  ;D

Also, I hope they are drinking lots of water and eating bananas...not loads and loads from El Burrito!!!
SCIAC posters have spread the word throughout the west to drink properly.

Driving down the freeway this morning at 9a.m., it was 103 degrees and at 4 p.m. it was 114 degrees.  As they say in Redlands, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Daytime temp of 93 or so in Redlands...relatively cool for the time of year.  Still, expect throat-parching dryness...

However it being "only" 93 means gametime temp much lower and will help the Spartans not wilt

From W-CF Courier Small College preview article

Who's house did he work on Koehler's or Willis'? :D
Maybe Neumann's?   :D  How many years before that question, in some form, goes away?  Good you WB fans can laugh at it yourselves, AEN.  It could be around for a long time to come.

Augsburg's coach is actually his brother in-law.  I think he just wanted to get out of the twin cities.

That and I think he is pretty good friends with Yordi and a few other players so that tied in with being a kid from a small town in a big city I think he just felt more comfortable at Wartburg. Donovan is a sophmore eligibility wise isn't he?

I am going against the grain and taking the Rams over Carleton.

I think if Cornell lined up against Grinnell again this week the Rams would take them apart

The Rams made about every error to be made in terms of pre-game approach (Totally Flat, improper diet/hydration, clueless about Grinnell's ability - in the 1st half...good adjustments defensively)

In-game (players cramping up, poor punting execution, didn't establish passing game in compatible sequence {throw short to throw long, IMHO}, stupid penalties, take better advantage of QB running abilities and TE size advantage).

I think all these things are easily correctable.  I expect Cornell's offense to be at full strength for all 4 quarters this time out.

Still Carleton is better than Grinnell.  Carleton loves to throw...but I think we will mount a better pass rush with the return of 3 D-Line players, including our speed rush specialist.

I have one other theory that I will share later...   ???

Not the theory that I promised but possibly valid nonetheless...

I just received a call informing me that the local Chipotle has pulled my bidness card from the fishbowl!

On Tuesday, 10 other Spa Engineers and I will be treated to free lunch!   ;D

Some of this good fortune is bound to trickle out to Jr. and the Rams.   8)

See,,,,5 Words.  Even a faithful follower like Hays sees the limits of the Rams.  The Rams/Rockets game will be a blowout for the Rockettes in Decorah on November 8.  ....We rocket fans look ahead to victories!

D-dog, is the UD v. Redlands game going to be webcast anywhere, or will be relying on live stats.

BTW:  What are your thoughts on the game.  What does UD need to do to beat the Redlands.  Can the new QB put this team on his shoulders and ride back into the midwest sunset with a victory?  Or will the desert dogs of the Redlands throw hot air in the UD players faces and send them home sundburned and scared?

I hope to be kept updated on this while watching USC vs. Ohio State.

Game has an audio webcast and can be found here... http://secure.stretchinternet.com/demo/games.php?user=dbq&o=cal_stamp&sd=today

Dubuque needs to overcome the travel and the heat.  If they can play their game and limit mistakes I think they can get the win in this game.  The Spartans look to me to be an improved team over last years addition.  I don't know if that will translate into a better win-loss record at the end of the season though.

Lots of rain in Iowa means no ride for doolittle on the lucky lawnmower...Spartans could be on their own to pick up a win in SoCal.

I am now going to resort to Plan B...eating a lucky bowl of chocolate ice cream!!!  If that ends up working...I will officially be off my diet until after football season!!!  Go Spartans!!!  3 exclamation marks is also lucky  ;D

I also am voting that 5 Words or Less has been hitting the sauce tonight!!!

You are one lucky man.  I eat Chipolte at least 3 times a week.  Its sad when the ladies who make the buritos know what I want when I walk in.  Even worse that 3 Chipolte in 3 different cities are all on the same page when I walk in.  I might have to come out to SoCal to try the place that you have been talking about in the Redlands.
