Ouch!!!!

missed a 40 yarder in ot, a 43 yd in 2nd half  and had a 47 blocked at end of regulation.   ???

And he has hit from 49 before.

How is it the Midwest Conference gets to do their pick-ems on their main page???

May I speculate:

a) they seem to only have two pickers, and/or

b) compared with you or the MIAC, they don't use the main page anyway! :D

that one stings a lot!  I know nothing about augsburg other than they always play WB tough no matter how good or bad they are supposed to be.

augsburg qb threw 57 times- (51 in regulation)  that is really chucking it around-  his longest completion was 15 yds so they definitely throw a lot of 3 step drops which makes me believe WB was playing a lot of zone?

I jinxed the D talking about how they were shutting down the run as aug scored on a 23 yd run to win
before that run they had 66 yds total rushing

I read the comment on letting the team do the talking. That was always my plan. I knew the team had to do the talking after the kickoff.

On today's game,

We improved on the passing game and penalties. We did not get the productivity we needed from the running game. A big reason is the turnovers. It's hard to beat a team with 4 turnovers. We finally found the tallest receiver on the field and it helped keeping procession of the ball on offense. The offensive line did better with blocking for the pass but not as production in the running game and that's probably due to teams planning to stop our rushing game.  We failed to convert from the 2 yard line once and it hurt. On offense, we have to eliminate the turnovers and develop a balance attack,

It looks like defense is the top priority. We gave up 579 yards of offense. Much of it was running up the gut and giving up the big pass plays. The linebackers were caught out of position too often. The cornerbacks struggled with single coverage. We did get a pic on defense and it put us in position to take the lead in the 3rd quarter.

Again, Cornell had chances to win this game. We just have to quit stopping ourselves.

We start the conference schedule next week and it looks like it will be a tough year until we learn how to win. I still beleive we can be competitive in the conference and even surprise some teams.

Wartburg v Augsburg must be a bigger rivalry than I thought? I really know nothing about it other than they both know how to wrestle. Any Knight backers clue me in or is this a newer fb thing since Augie seems to be a much better team than they were a few years back.

Rough loss for the Knights...hopefully they can get back on track...after the 20th anyways :)

How about those Hawkeyes!?! Wasnt pretty but Ill take a W!

Central/Wartburg and Cornell/Coe next weekend...I bet the trash talking starts early this week!!!

These games will cheer me up after our non-con games the last 2 weekends.

Old Dutch

2 wins this weekend for IIAC  (Reds 36-DBQ3 in third)  Simpson and Loras.  Congrats to you two.  I believe we're 0-3 vs bottom half of the MIAC.  Augsburg may very well be a contender in the MIAC,highly underrated in their preseason poll (6th), Gusties 7th and Carlton 8th, all beat IIAC teams.  IIAC =  the Big Ten Conference of D3.

I was thinking the same thing.  Very depressing couple of weeks around here.  I am cheered with the thought I will be in Decorah next saturday with my family to watch UD take on the Norse.  If nothing else it should be a beautiful drive up there and should have a great time at the game.

We gave up 579 yards of offense.
Salivating.

Seeing that Carleton put up 374 yards in the air this week, CJ Feller might be breaking the same records he broke today.  I'd be willing to bet he goes for 350+ this week again, unless something big happens this week for the Cornell defense.

Coe just needs to find a way to put the ball in the end zone once they get in the red zone.
