BEAVERS WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN 26-21.  BV Comes back in the forth, and scores 13 point, and hold off wartburg.  Some turnovers, wartburgs proved to be more severe fumbling on BV's 20.  I am not saying by no means BV will run the table, but these guys know how to win!  They never gave up and have proven so far that they can compete against lower conference teams, and now Upper conference teams.

Congarts to the Beaver's for the big win today. Looks like BV and Loras have the targets on their backs now. They will need to come to play every weekend cause who ever they play will be ready.  The knights had 3 chances to score in the 3th quarter and once in the 4th but couldn,t get the job done. Give BV credit for a strong defense.

Old Dutch

Luther stats page says Norse 385 yards (286 in 2nd half) and Dutch 358,  Bandow 23 of 51 passing and Dutch with 37yards rushing.  Thats how you get beat.  Some of the reports off the radio made it sound like the Dutch were not very "mentally present".  not an excuse, just a question for any fans at the game.

Congratulations to today's winners, particularly Luther and BV.  Enjoy today's wins, you both deserve it.  Central could not do anything today and Luther played a fantastic game.  I thought it was great to be able to watch the game on the web, until I watched the game on the web.   ;)  The only good thing to say is at least I didn't have a 4 hour drive home after the game.  It had to be a long trip for the Dutch fans today.  I knew Luther played us well up there, but I have to give them props, they totally dominated us.  I didn't expect that, but I sure give you credit for doing it.  Not many teams, including Wartburg, have done that lately.  Loras, BV, have fun being at the top of the conference, enjoy it while it lasts.  If it can't be us, it might as well be a surprise team.  My pick-ems and tie breaker are in the toilet.

Luther has a very good football team.  Congrats to them and thanks to whoever provided the video.  As far as I know Central is now 0-3 on live video.  They have lost to Wartburg and Luther this year on the internet and they lost in the Stagg Bowl back in 198? against Ithaca.  I think I would rather read about them winning than watch them lose.

My pick 'em status took a hit today.  At 1-3, this is the first week I've been more wrong than right.

We seem to have a poor effort on every odd numbered game.

So hopefully we can regroup and put something together next week.

Throw this week away...

(Several teams share that sentiment I reckon)   ;)

If we get Video streaming next year, let's use the folks that put together Wartburg's...Loras' was the pits.

Congrats to the Norse on a great performance overall today!  I know Central is reloading etc., but any win over the Dutch is memorable!  Today is the 2nd Norse win over the Dutch in the last 5 years, but only the 3rd since the beginning of the 1980s.

The Central punt team is still outstanding!  There was that period in the 3rd quarter where Luther stopped Central around the Central 25, but the Dutch got the ball back because on the punt return the Norse were called for holding at the line of scrimmage and downfield.  The Norse Defense held again and forced the Dutch to punt, but the Dutch punt team executed a fake for yet another first down.  It was hard to think that the Dutch weren't going to score after those plays by the Dutch punt team, but the Norse Defense held again and the Luther Offense was actually allowed to come out on the field!

The Dutch punt team also pinned the Norse inside the 3 on a 50-yard punt.  Luther was able to move the ball out of that situation, so congrats to the Norse Offense!

Great games by the Luther DL!  Webb, Bobby K., and Rickertson all played well (especially Webb)!  The pass rush they put on with 3-4 guys was great.  The Dutch also were very one-dimensional even when the score was close.

Reynolds played very well overall at QB!  Thank goodness he will still be around for another three seasons after 2008!  The run he had for a TD was huge, and he hit some big passes so get them out of bad situations.

Jesse Kent had some big catches, but I was also pleased to see how much the ball was spread around.  The 48-yard screen pass really got the Dutch Defense spinning to the point where lots of things opened up for the Norse Offense after that.

The Luther OL also did a nice job in both the run game and pass game.  It was great to see solid balance.

It was great to see Luther make less mistakes than the Dutch for once.  The INT returned for 97 yards and a TD in the 1st half to make it 12-7 Luther was obviously a very big play, but so was the field goal block earlier in the game.

The Dutch had not lost a regular season road game since Luther beat them in double overtime for the 2004 homecoming game in Decorah.  That is an amazing run even for a program as storied as Dutch Football.  Good luck the rest of the season!

Luther travels to play Waldorf next week.  For a team that was picked to win 1-2 games by some on this board, the Norse will look to move to 3-2 overall.  In the preseason I generally had the Norse between 3-7 and 4-6 on the year (after the RB situation), so I am now hopeful that they can reach or pass my expectations as the year goes on.

These homecoming games have been a lot of fun to watch the last five years!

Congrats to all of the winners today.  That is a huge win for the Beavers while Coe really needed to bounce back from the season that they have had so far.  While it was huge for both teams, B.V. is really exceeding preseason expectations!  For a program that many of us were wondering about roster size and other things over the last two years, the team from Storm Lake is in about as good of shape in the standings since about mid-2004.  There are a lot of games to go, but today was a lot of fun so far!

Well all is not lost today.  I got to hear the Redlands game.  They are winning going into the 4th.  So curse for some teams is still real.   ;D ;D ;D ;D (that is for you Doolittle)
