            Hi Floyd,

The offense continues to evolve with a new wrinkle every week. They still don't run many different plays. The passing game has been what you saw Saturday. This was his best game so far in reguards to accuracy. They have done a good job of play calling to help him protect the ball. Yes, Reynolds has done a great job of decision making all year.
Aside from the St. Olaf game where the OLine didn't do much, they have been real good. I thought they were taking over the UD game in the second half before Bass got hurt. I think they played a lot better game against Simpson than the stats or score would indicate. OldNorse made a good observation during that game about Leigh in his first start. It seemed he was trying to hit the hole to fast as opposed to taking that split second to allow the line to create a gap for him and then hit it. He still had several 7 and 8 yard gains, but looked better this week. Especially impressive this week as they played without both starting guards.
Not sure what is going to happen with the kicking game. Barkley isn't getting the distance he was the first  two weeks for some reason. Grimm played a little at Simpson and more against Central. I know he doesn't think of himself as just a kicker, and doesn't want to be, but we might start seeing more of him one way or the other.

Thanks Thunderbolt!

I still do see Grimm as a kicker.  Maybe he is a kicker who also wants to play DB, but I would think the coaches would want him to not give up his day job just yet.  I understand that Barclay has a big leg and has had success at Luther as both a soccer player and a wrestler, but he seems very raw as a kicker.  I hope he has a big year in wrestling!

It is interesting to me how the Norse have been able to move the ball on Central and Dubuque (regardless of whether they won or lost) the past few years despite the success of the two teams, but moving the ball on Wartburg has been much tougher.  It seems like 2005 was the only good offensive game against the Knights in recent years.

Hopefully the team can still continue to get better as the season moves on.  I like the chances against Waldorf this week, but the next stretch of @B.V., Coe, and @Wartburg looks daunting.  Unlike other IIAC programs that may be more worried about B.V. this year, the Beavers have been as tough on the Norse as anyone.

Your right Flyod...The Beavers have been tough on the Norse, but they have always been very good games.  No blow outs of recent memory.  Back in 03 I remember a game where everytime we had the ball the sun shined and every time the Norse had the ball the wind blew.  It was quite interesting.

The Norse as well as the Beavers a bit upstart this season.  They are both most likely a year a head of schedule in my opinion.  Much like the Crimson Tide down in Alabama.  BV still has to play Central, Coe, and Loras.  None of those teams have been all to kind to the Beavers recently either.

This is going to be a fun run to watch.

I remember the 2003 homecoming game.  You guys had a very good defensive front and an all-American kicker.  That was about the only Norse game I saw that year where RBs Jefferson and Davis did not have strong games for the Norse.

What's Outfly Day?

From http://www.wartburg.edu/admissions/traditions/:

Sometimes called by its German name, "Ausflug," Outfly is a student-initiated, one-day holiday. This Wartburg tradition traces back to the 1890s. It now occurs once a year during the Fall Term. Outfly is called upon a date known only to the college president and the student body president. Evening classes on Outfly are not cancelled.

Some preliminary research on my part (hampered greatly by the archives of the Wartburg Trumpet no longer being online) shows that Wartburg has won four of the last five post-Outfly games, with the only exception being last year's loss to Augsburg.
That's the good news.  The bad news is that only one of those games (2003 @ Loras) was decided by more than 7 points.  So if history is any indication, expect a close win for the Knights on Saturday at Coe, whom Wartburg beat in back-to-back post-Outfly contests in 2004-05.

I don't know, it hasn't been much fun from where I'm sitting so far.   ;) ;) ;)

Seriously, you are right, even though I would love to see the Dutch at the top, I have to admit that the conference race will be a fun one to watch this year.  I guess it gets pretty boring seeing the same one or two teams at the top every year, but boring and Pella go together, don't they?   ;D ;D ;D

Ya know, if this is career ending...he can always fall back on the summer acting gig he had filming TV Commercials for Jack's Links

It can't be career ending, that would blow all the plans Willis had to get his roof done this summer.   :D :D :D

So are you saying that the president and student body president get together and plot this out for the football team to win a game?   ;D ;D ;D ;D  A secret weapon for the Knights?   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Of course its not fun and I doubt that you will get much sympathy on this board ;D

I am just hoping that this season ends much better than 2004 did.

Nice job finding this bit of info. Kudos for digging deep and finding a stat related to a student off day, and finding that it had a pattern...well done.

I know this isn't football related, but I wanted to pass this website along. Click on it and vote for A-P School. The winner of the nationwide voting (with the most votes) will be awarded $25,000....which would greatly help rebuilding efforts.
