If played on, could a fully torn ACL weaken other ligaments due to extra strain?

Good luck to all IIAC teams this opening weekend....

WartTrainer

If he is bracing it I wouldnt think so. Since each of the other ligaments help with stabalization of the knee in different directions I wouldnt think that they would weaken do to excess strain.  The muscles will have to work a lot harder to help with the stabalization though.

Good Luck IIAC!!

Former Ram

I would expect to see big things out of Boom the next few years at Wartburg as well.  He was a heck of a high school running back.  I think Yordi would make a heck of an Iowa Conference QB as well.

WartTrainer,

Thats what I am hearing from other people too.  They also said that if it is a partial tear a brace could help and the only other thing is that it tears completely.  The wear and tear on the joint is what I would worry about.  If he does this look out when he turns 40.  That wont be fun.

Where has Dutchfan1 been.  She always makes things interesting.  I thought she'd have her picks up here by now.

Aw, so nice to see that you guys missed me. :) I'm back with my picks for the weekend:
Simpson over Concordia - should be an interesting match up, but I'll take IIAC talent
St. Ambrose over Loras - Loras doesn't have the juice, even though it is only St. Ambrose
UW-P over UD, although I will be pulling for UD to win
NW over Cornell - the Rams are still the conference bottom feeders for a reason
Wartburg over Monmouth in a much tighter game than people expect
IWU over Coe - Coe misses TeKippe's talents
BV over Bethel - I think Bethel is going to have another mediocre season
Central over St. Thomas

As for the other conversation topics I've missed:
Loras is going to continue to have a tough road - they need to work on developing the talent they have, since they can't seem to recruit many stars. Another mediocre season in Dubuque....

Thoughts on Wartburg's coaching shake-up: Willis was such a strong defensive coach, I think that it will be interesting to see an offensive guy step into the head coaching position. The Knights are such a defensive school - it will be intersting to see how the program is modified under new leadership.

A non-D3 question for all of you ISU fans: what happened Thursday night?? It's going to be a long season in Ames. Three OT's to beat Toledo? Nice!

It has been a long time...good to be back to football season.  I have been out of the loop for awhile now and have a general question for the board: How does the IIAC look this year?  Who are the front runners and who are the up and comers?

I am looking forward to another competitive season in the IIAC .  Good luck to the conference during opening weekend.  Go Norse.
Go Norse!!!

tribute

Norse are having a good first half. The offense has had 6 offensive possessions and scored 6 touchdowns. Though the extrapoints have been the cause of some adventure. score 40-0 at half time.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Floyd in Iowa City

Luther won 60-0 as the offensive starters did not play in the 2nd half against Martin Luther.  Martin Luther was obviously not the team that St. Olaf will be next week, but the Norse look better and deeper at DL, LB, and RB compared to much of last season.

The Norse won 44-6 and 55-21 over Martin Luther the previous two years.

The Luther DL goes about 8-deep with guys that could start at a bunch of places.  How many of them are going to be able to be an all-conference type of player is another question, but there are a couple of sophomores who could be fun to watch over the next few seasons.

The LBs and safeties look pretty good and pretty deep as well as a guy like Jerry Jaeger is still on the 2nd team.

It will be fun to see what kind of season Sweers has at QB this season with the WR corps that he gets to throw to.  All three top WRs looked sharp today.  The special teams coverage was also good, but the field goal team needs some work.

St. Olaf next Saturday might once again be the toughest offense Luther will see this year, so that will be a good test before playing Coe and Wartburg to open the IIAC.

Wartburg up 3-0 after a 47 minute first half. Defense playing very well, offense moving the ball but no consistency. Anyone's game right now although Monmouth is doing much offensively.

Monmouth only 33 rush yards first half and Wartburg 110.
Knights only 3-10 passing.

I think you meant Monmouth is "not" doing much offensively.  Can you tell there are a couple of new QB's in this game?
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!
