Kohawkfan,

I don't know where to start.  If that was a turning point for your season you had plenty of chances to turn it around.  With that game being the third of the season there were plenty more that the team could have done it.  I very much doubt if any of the coaches or players have dwelt on that game.  Most coaches move on and I am sure that the players have as well.  Coe got dominated by Central the Loras game can not explain that.  I have no opinion about the video posted or if the Kohawks got cheated,  if it happened it happened you have to move on and recover seems from your posts they did not.  IMHO that is no one's fault but the coaches and players if they didn't move on.  I doubt that is the case though.  I don't think the players after all their losses are saying if only those refs had not cheated us we could have won the game we just played one two or seven weeks later.

Gifted a win?  I don't think so.  Coe should have won in regulation.  Are you sure you were there?   ???

I was there and Coe should feel very lucky.  I'm sure there was some luck involved in the fumble recover/TD but the Coe defense and special teams have kept them in the games all season.  The Luther defense played well that game.  Just for the record, I don't have any problem with Coe's losses when they are legitimately outplayed.  When the officials determine the outcome of any game (Coe's or anyone elses)...that's horse dung. Most teams do when they recover a fumble on a kickoff return by a fellow teammate and run for a TD.  Most teams also feel lucky when the opposing team decides to field a punt inside the 10 and fumbles into the end zone where Coe fell on it for a TD.  Coe took advantage, but most of us have played enough to remember times where things weren't working well and some breaks really made the difference.  To say that the Luther Defense played pretty well that day is being nice.  It was a perfect day weather-wise and Luther's campus is beautiful in the fall.

Wow.
As a Coe fan, this is getting rediculous.  That Loras game was a month and a half ago.  Our season went down the drain before that.  Yes, that loss stings, and it hurts, but not as much as losing every game at home this year.  Loras and Coe are always a tough fight.  I think that the clock ran out, but who cares?? Coe wasn't going to the playoffs if they had won that game regardless.  You (kohawkfan) seem like the only one that is still hung up on that.  The defense should have lived up to their billing and stopped McGrew - he beat us more then the refs might have.  There were multiple causes for Coe's rough season, the Loras game being one of them, but more then the outcome.  The players were mad about how the game ended, yes, but i'm sure they wern't hung up more then through Sunday of that week.  Coe has to start looking forward to next year, and proving that this year was a fluke.  There are many things that Coe could have done differently.  The offense was non-existant.  They dont even have a QB in the top 10 for yards/game - wierd because there are less then 10 starters in the conference.  They need to hit the recruiting trail hard.  Maybe Coe should have scheduled at least one cupcake non-con game this year, to give the team some much needed confidence.  They were beaten from the get go.  When your QB starts off the season with like 6 picks to no TD's, there are some questions to be answered.
There were some good things that came out of this season.  The LB duo of Tate and Calvin are unstoppable.  The d-line is very good as well.  The secondary has some questions.  The offense has some huge question marks, especially after the year is over - Offensive line comes to mind.  They have some speciality positions in the making - particularly at the young QB position.  It's going to be a battle in the off season.  Hammas is a stud, as well as a couple of the WR's.
I could go on, sorry for the long post.

I very much doubt if any of the coaches or players have dwelt on that game.  They haven't.  Coe has done well winning on the road.  They've played with alot of heart eventhough they've been plagued with injuries in really key positions.  Most coaches move on and I am sure that the players have as well.  Coe got dominated by Central the Loras game can not explain that.    I agree.  Central played very well against Coe.  If I remember, Central's coach commented that the Dutch played their best game to date against Coe.

You pretty much hit everything on the head.  I still question why Kohawkfan continues to bring up the Loras game.  To answer your question about the scoreboard, I believe the points were put on the board, then the board was shut off seconds after it happened, at least it appeared that way to me.

The Linebackers are studs.  Both ranked in the top 10 in the NATION in tackles.  I don't think any other school has two people ranked in the Top 25.  It is sad that as of two weeks ago, the Coe defense led the IIAC in total yards, yet the offense ranked last in Time of Possession, meaning the Kohawks gave up the fewest yards on defense, while being the defense in the league that spent the most time on the field.

Either way, there are tons of questions for next season.  I just hope no one bases all judgements of Coe and its fans on one person on this board.

No kidding -- It's Central/Simpson week....we should be using our time to remind our friends in Indianola of their inadequacies.  ;D

A Simpson fan is walking along the shores of Grey's Lake and finds a magic lamp. He rubs it and a genie pops out. The gennie says, "I can give you one wish, but it has to be easy because I've been locked in the lamp for a while and I'm rusty at this wish stuff."

So the Simpson fan thinks and says, "I know! I want peace in the Middle East." The genie says, "Wow! That's hard. I said make that wish easy."

The Simpson thinks some more and says, "I know I want Simpson to beat Central in football this year."

The genie says, "Shoot! What the heck did i do with that map of the Middle East!"

;D

Floyd and Klopenhiemer,

I think it was the expansion of the NSIC.  That's just my opinion.  Duluth is an amazing team ranked number two in Super Region #3 right behind Grand Valley.  The only other two D2 losses for Winona was to Wayne State and Mankato.  Both who made the playoffs.  As for loss number 4, that was just a near miss loss to 1AA Michigan Tech.

Winona definitely looked more comfortable at home winning all the games there (maybe it was the kick ass cable station who covered there?!?).  Of course they played teams like Upper Iowa and Northern State (who eeked out one win this year).

A bright spot on the season, last home game of the year Winona knocked off Augustana who was looking to stay ranked in the top ten of Super Region #3 and maybe make playoffs.

I may know a bit more tomorrow.  Coach Sawyer will be recording his weekly football show on our station this evening.  We will see what he has to say about the season.

Nice!  +K for that.

Something I am looking forward to this week, seeing which teams come out and play with heart.  Not likely anyone else will be playing on Nov. 22nd (maybe BV....maybe).  Let's see which teams take some pride when playoffs are now off the table.

BV looks to still hold on to runner-up.  Central, Simpson, Loras and Luther all look to tie for runner-up and finish .500 in the conference.  Those two games would be fun to watch.  Too bad the DuHawk/Norse battle wasn't in Decorah, I may want to go watch, just to take the time to watch some college ball this year and enjoy it (and who am I kidding, I can always go for some Mabe's pizza)

And we can't forget the Rams...looking for the "W" this year.  I would love to see that.

I have to share one more...we've been passing these around the office all day....

A Simpson Football recruit showed up for practice with his cleats on the wrong feet. Coach Glo said "Son, your shoes are on the wrong feet." He looked up at him with a raised brow and said, "Don't kid me Coach, I know they're my feet."

I don't like hearing how Coe has played well on the road ... especially since they are on the road this Saturday against UD.

I'm gonna go get me a beer and pop some popcorn...this looks like some fun reading I have in front of me here ;D

oldNorse

Hopefully we are done with the Coe vs Loras game of September 27th.  It seems to me as a former player, former coach and long-time fan that DIII players rather quickly get over the defeats and go on to focus on the next game and then on to their studies.  It is only active coaches and old jocks that harbor the past in their gut....especially if they think their team has been wronged in some way.  Certainly we carry the memories of victories and defeats with us but there is a time to let the defeats go and remember the victories.

Once again oldNorse is the voice of reason.

Maybe some pearls of wisdom from oldNorse can convince ShowMe to return to our boards!!!  I actually miss reading his posts...and the responses those posts would bring ;D
