Emotional letdown after an upset win last week?
Sometimes You're the Windshield & Sometimes You're the Bug!

Sorry Central, but I was glad to see one of our former Muskie kids come up big for Simpson on the last play of his college career.  :)

I would echo that WF, a year of great surprises (Except for the eventual champion).  While its good to see the whole conference do well (even Cornell, though saddled  with the 0-fer, they were competitive in many games, much more so than the past three years).  Did everyone move up or did the top move down?  I refer to the non-con results that we lamented about 10 weeks ago, I think the IIAC is at .500, and not against real strong opponents.

Way too early for the pessimism though.  We've seen a year where you know players have to show up ready week in and week out and literally anybody could win on any Saturday.  I'd take a $6 ticket to an IIAC game or a $50 seat in Kinnnick any day. Congrats to all the seniors.

My first Christmas wish for the Dutch is a consistent running game, and rush defense

No thats not it, they're much more recent and less effeminate.  Very popular recently, I'll bet other posters we'll know them

Klop is so right.

I would agree that most years you have to be able to run the ball.  The Dutch were successful last year being mostly a passing team.  That does not happen very often.

I'd agree, last year with the conference MVP at the helm a passing team can win, Wartburg did it this year also.  But the Dutch always had a threat to run (with the QB if nothing else) as did Warty this year.  Central had games where there was no apparent threat to run for significant yards.  But I'm old school  Give me Woody Hayes over Lavell Edwards any day.

I believe I was 0-fer today in the Pick 'Ems.   Just another day in the life of a Spartan fan.

So ... while talk will be about the Warts and the playoffs ... the big questions for a few (very few) of us are:

1.  Will Colton Hansen be able to move UD to the 500 level in 2009 ...

2.  Is there someone waiting in the wings with the athletic ability of J. Jackson for us to build our hopes on in 2010 and beyond?

And speaking of J. Jackson ... in the midst of wind, rain, snow and ice pellets ... I watched Jackson's former high school team ... the Muskegon Big Red ... completely dismantle the #1 team in Michigan's Division 2 today, 49-14.  Team size and speed said it all.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

oldNorse

Another season over the hill.........my 54th in watching the IIAC.

Once again the Norse shot themselves in the foot at Loras.  Poor decisions and multiple mistakes.  Yet, 5-5 is about what I had predicted for the Norse at the beginning. McGrew is such a fine runner......... best back in the conference I believe.

Now, I suppose all the coaches hit the road the next weeks to talk to some high schoolers who are not still in the state playoffs.

Thanks to all players, coaches, fans and posters for a fine season of D3 football.  It keeps me alive.

What page did you find your pre-season picks on?  Might save me some hours of scrolling.  I think I had BV 4th and was about the highest ranking on the board for the Beavers.
