Outside the Crate

I'm inclined to think Cal Lutheran will win a Pool C and that will change the landscape considerably.   As a relatively recent convert to the Midwest, it's too friggin cold around here to play football outside in November, so I'd like Wartburg to go anywhere a bit warmer.  Stevens Point isn't it.  Where does one shop for insulated underwear?  Basketball anyone?

Try JC Penney.
Look for Carhart insulated outerwear as well as flannel lined jeans.
Wickers brand insulated underwear and socks.
Sorel or Baffin boots.
Get a hat made out of Gore-Tex, lined with Thinsilate.

Welcome to the Tundra  :D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I hope the committee will make decisions without travel being a primary consideration so that Willamette and Oxy don't have to meet each other in the first round.
You can bet that travel will be a primary consideration.

Also I was buying into the hype regarding Breitbach out of Coe.  I really never heard much about him or found much about him.  Was he injured or did Coe just not use him to his full potential?  Or does he not have any potential?

Breitbach earns ESPN The Magazine Academic honor
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa- Senior Tommy Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII First Team today as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Breitbach, a business and economics major, was a second-team selection his sophomore year, while being named to the first team in 2007. He is also a two-time Academic All-Iowa Conference member.

Academic All-District First Team members move on to the national ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® ballot. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Football Team is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, November 25.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

District VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Sounds like alot of potential.
Congrats, Mr. Breitbach.
In the words of Bobby Knight: "I mean, I deeply hope we beat their ass today."

Breitbach had 8 carries for 22 yards this year and 0 last year
9 catches for 72 yards this year and 32 catches for 442 yards last year
Avg 11 yards per punt return with a long of 37 and almost 16 last year with a long of 57 with 2 TDs
Had 4 INTS this year and 2 last year
Avg 22 yards per kick return with a long of 30 and avg 24 with a long of 45 last year
Also had 4 PBU's this year and 62 tackles last year with 13 PBU's last year.

No doubt had better stats last year.
Not sure if it was something with him or his supporting cast or coaching.

Don't feel like quoting everyone that was posting about it, but now that the season is over, it might as well be said.  Tommy was hurt most of the season.  Played every game through pain.  He also sat out a game, thinking it was Luther but don't really remember.

Either way, he is a fine ball player.  Teams avoiding throwing and kicking his way this season, which explains why his numbers were lower than last year.

Was happy to see him get a pick in his final game yesterday.

Road trip in the process of being planned. Going to state championship games Friday so leaving P-burg Saturday morning at 4 if anyone wants to ride along.

No thats not it, they're much more recent and less effeminate.  Very popular recently, I'll bet other posters we'll know them
Given your username...could it be The Beatles?

No No No - I may be aged like a fine scotch, but with kids in Colege of late I keep up with the times.  I know the pic is not in original perspective, but fans of his group ought to recognize them.  #1 son saw them in Ames recently

I hate to ruin the speculation, but the band is O.A.R. (Of A Revolution).  Not to be confused with O.A.S., which is One Armed Scot.  Some of you folks might remember them from their 2001 hit "Crazy Game of Poker" or their current chart-topper "Shattered."

Thanks for renewing my faith in the PP posters SK.  OAR seems to be the best recent band nobody away from a college campus has heard of???  Just picked up the new album today, I mean CD.  Not being an owner of an iPod I still buy the media that I can carry around.

So ... first round gives us the Knights and the Pointers!

I would say the Knights got a pretty favorable bracket, not saying UWSP is a push over, but with Whitewater, St. Johns, Willamette and Oxy in the other half of the bracket, it seems the traditional power is over there.  Get by UWSP and week two would either be from the MWC or newly minted NAthC (ex Ilini-Badger)  in which Lakeland  finished third.  Central shut out Lakeland in week one and they didn't impress much.

First things first, good luck at UWSP!

Well, since the Dutch are now 42-7-2 against Simpson (last 51 games)....maybe we just dominate Simpson, is this better?  ;D ;D ;D
