I could be wrong about this, but I was under the impression one game equalled a season. I hope for his sake I'm wrong.
It does for traditional redshirt rules, but for "medical hardship" season, I believe the magic number is 30% games, in D3's case, 3 games. In this case, it more often comes down to the player wanting to drop another 30 grand on college for another year of eligibility.

Or you can just put a med red on a kid who doesnt need it they do not get a lot of playing time in their freshman year.  Also seen this where a kid plays a freshman and they put the shirt on him next season.  Interesting how these games get played at times.

Good luck to the Kaniggets.

BTW - Reading from the Courier Article:

""A lot of guys thought it would be cool to go to California and play in warmer weather," Yordi said."

"Warmer" doesn't do it justice...if they played Oxy, it might be in the 90's (or more) for a 1:00PM PST kickoff.

It's frickin' hot out here right now...

We're getting mid-eighties all week in North County San Diego, that's with an ocean nearby.

Oxy is in an inland valley...much hotter.

Not to worry now.  U-Dub plays in your kind of weather.

doesnt matter.  the iiac has "medical hardship" mentioned above.  You can not play more then 30% of the games - also mentioned above.  this is different in the redshirt in the traditional sense of the term.

COY:  BV's Anderson ON ONE preseason picked this with the possible exception of a drunk and delusional Klopenhiemer   :D  (2nd Willis - Even though the Knights were supposed to win, c'mon stepped in 2 weeks before camp; 3rd Osterbergermeisterberger - But how hard was it to play "give the ball to McGrew")

POY:  1A Loras' McGrew  (1B Reutzel, 1C Yordi)  Could make a strong case for all 3, but Mr. McGrew carried Loras beyond where most of us expected.  (BV's Peary deserves a nod too)

Biggest surprise, good:  BV, then Loras  (Although Coe having a down year certainly has its charms to us Cornell fans  8) )

Biggest surprise, bad:  First Cornell, then DBQ.   Both teams underachieved in my estimation.
(Wartburg and Coe fit here also, as the Wartburg D didn't perform to my expectation and the Coe offense never quite got it together for an extended period)

Walston you only have half that as football is only in the fall semester.  They don't have to go all year to play football in the fall.  The can graduate at the semester.  The premise of your thought is correct though.  It depends on how important it is to play football.  If they have a double major that time can help.

I don't know, we lost to the fifth place MIAC team by a touchdown.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Oh Boy! ROAD TRIP!!!
Hope no one's pets in Southern Butler County get sick Saturday because Doc Tom is clearing his schedule and reliving the glory days road tripping to a Wartburg game. No sons to watch this time but you can bet the old man will be hoarse for the drive home. Referee's for that game better hope their earplugs are working.

I had the honor seating near your Dad at some game for two year, he wasn't all that bad. But I suppose he got uses to yelling at his two older sons ;D ;D ;D

why all the hostility? - no one is getting on anyone for saying the Kohawks were disappointing.  That's a valid arguement saying that the IIAC Champ lost to the eigth place MIAC team is quite dissappointing no matter what time of the year it is. just cause it is Wartburg don't go gettin' all defensive, it would be the same if any other team had got beat by a "bad" out of conference team that ended up winning the IIAC.

a guesstimation is about 12-15k (more for out of state) for the full year, so about 6-8k for a half.  You could probably make that less at the State schools where you could alter your class schedule to take the minimum for eligibility (which I think is 12 credits, but may be wrong)
