(Wartburg and Coe fit here also, as the Wartburg D didn't perform to my expectation and the Coe offense never quite got it together for an extended period)
Wartburg's D led the conference again.
Sure the yards and scoring went up from last year, but they were still better than everyone else.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

BV's defense was tops in the conference in the amount of points they gave up per game, I believe the stat is 14.3 points per game.  Giving up 121 yards per game on the ground.  Not to shabby.

And to think the IIAC is an "excessive celebration" penalty against UD in the Wartburg game from having BV taking the conference title and the AQ for our conference  ;D ;D ;D

Ahh the old "conference stats vs overall stats" debate.
Have to go with common opponents.
Wartburg gave up 13.9 ppg in conference.

Relative to my subjective expectations, Wartburg's defense disappointed me.  I didn't figure to see a nearly 75% scoring defense drop in performance.  Bottom line, it was good enough.

News out of Ram-ville...

2 coaches are out...neither of whom are who you may assume it would be.  Meaning, not a top to bottom housecleaning.

Some food for thought:

...first winless season since 1951...

....18 game IIAC losing streak

....8 points in the 4th quarter for the 2008 season (2 were a safety allowed by Grinell to run the clock out)

....4-30 record over 3 seasons

....an offense best suited for players between the ages 15-18

....playcalling with the imagination of a grey crayon

....team on the verge of mutiny

thoughts?

This and a win over the Beavers by the Dutch got Wartburg the IIAC Crown.   ;D ;D ;D

Really?  What is the team going to do quit?  What does the team want?  A new head coach?

New coach, new playcalling, new philosphy

"the wrong people were fired" (quote overheard at an earlier juncture)

Who knows about the possibility of not playing...the guys are all dedicated to play, just hoping for a new direction I suppose

What are the graduation rates of the fball players???

What does Dillon make compared to other IIAC coaches???

Does the Cornell administration care about results???

If they do care...are they willing to spend $$$ for results???

As for your questions...

I do think the play calling was lacking.

As to the other things...that's best left said by those with inside knowledge of the Cornell team.

CCRAM33

Not sure on rates...but I know all the seniors are graduating this year and haven't heard of anyone else who hasn't in the last few years...

Admin does care about success but monetary support is an unknown...as well as the salary of the head coach.

Playcalling was brutal...ran 36 zone 6 times in a row against Luther, option's run on the 4 yard line...

doolittledog

Hang on, I'm getting some popcorn...this looks like it could be an interesting night on here :o

Greetings from the MWC board, how is everyone on this board feeling about the first round game against UW-SP?
