I don't think Wartburg has put together their best game yet.
Agreed. Loras has been the closest thing to their best game.
Coincidently, that was the only other game I've been to this year, and I'll be there Saturday.
Maybe I'm the good luck charm.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

[/quot Apparently, some "kohawk fans" don't think we should recoup anything for our costs of equipment, travel, time, etc.

Isn't profit a dirty word in out society today?  Recoup costs but noooooo profit.   ;D ;D ;D

@ $33,000 + per year-someone's gotta be making some profit...

Coe's Bean Counters probably see it differently -- If I remember correctly (and I may not) I thought Coe had one of the smallest endowments of all Iowa private colleges.  (I'm a little busy today to look it up, but this is a research project that has Doolittle written all over it.)

I really hope the Knights run game can continue to get better, like over the next 5 games :)
We don't need the 200+ yard days, but if the team can be in that 150-180 range, I like our odds. Probably means the defense hasn't been on the field that long.

If the Knights can get 150 on the ground and 150-200 through the air I like their chances as well.  Only if it is not a track meet.  If it becomes a shoot out I would say that would benefit the home team.

And the Knights are 4-0 in games I've been to this year.  With both of us there, we should be golden.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

That's right -- Wartburg and Loras are lagging behind the rest of the conference. Why is that? It seems odd that their endowments are so much smaller than those of the rest of the conference....doesn't it?

Looks like the Pointers got both WIAC P.O.Y. and C.O.Y.

I will say their run defense is top notch.  The last game of the year they held UWL's Donoval to 61 yards on 17 carries and no TDs.  The week before Donoval ran all over UWRF with 248 yards on 19 carries and 3 TDs.  Donoval is third in the WIAC.  UWSP kept the top running back in the league (UWEC's Sartorelli) to right around his season average and the 2nd in the league (UWW's Coppage) under his season average.  Hopefully those big guys up front for the Knights can get out and block for Wartburg's backfield.

Yea, asking for 150 yards rushing isn't very realistic. They give up 2.2 per carry on the season. 81 yards to Whitewater- minus 7 to LaCrosse.  Against the four best run defenses in the IIAC the Knights had 383 yards on 157 carries. Not going to make much hay that way.

Only our financial endowments!   :o

Actually, I'd chalk it up to the amount of construction that's gone on at Wartburg and Loras over the past couple years.  Seems like everyone else in the conference has made small changes here and there (except for Dubuque, which has been paying for their new toys with donated money).

Last I knew, in the past 5 years, Loras has done a full renovation of the Rock Bowl, built a new indoor athletic facility, and updated some of their dorms and apartment-style living.

Over the past decade, Wartburg has:
- Built a new library
- Built a new seniors-only dorm
- Completed a full renovation of their football/track compex
- Implemented new softball, soccer, and throwing facilities
- Built a new student center
- Built a new science building
- Added on to an existing dorm
- Built a new indoor athletic facility
In other words, most of the dorms, the Chapel, Old Main, and Luther Hall were the only buildings on campus left untouched.

What fat cats went to Grinnell? That is HUGE! What is the school like, as in facilities, types of students, and those sorts of things?

It will be interesting to see what the YE 2008 numbers are...I'd bet a lot of them will be down 20% or more.

Luther has just added one of the best science facilities if not the best in the state, along with renovating the Student Union...I'm pretty sure every school in the IIAC adds on to things just about every summer. Its not to often that you walk onto a campus and don't see construction going on during the summer months...and I'm not sure of how much of your endowment tends to go towards renovations of buildings...Also didn't the Waverly tax payers help pay for the new athletic facility?
