One thing to remember about Monmouth is parking maybe interesting if the Knights bring a big crowd. Happy to be hosting again, looking forward to a good match up. We had a stadium renovation this year, so any of who had been there before it is much nicer. Still grass field as the field turf and lights get put in next year. Looking forward to yoru visits. We'll all have to get together with our non clear plastic cups....heh heh.

Congrads to Wartburg on beating UWSP.  Those that are looking for live streaming of the game need to check out the Monmouth website www.monm.edu.  You will have to listen to the Monmouth play by play announcers but they do a nice job of not being biased.  Last week it was free, not sure yet about this weekend.

What was the score of the Wartburg-Loras game?  Any information about Wartburg? Type of offense, defense, studs, etc.
Just trying to be informed about the game on Saturday.

Good Luck to my Scotties!

Papa90 here is a link for the recap of the Wartburg Loras game.

For those who didn't have a chance to read it, here's the Courier's game story from Saturday's Wartburg playoff game.

i dont know if this has been brought up yet or not, but how did Calvin Thomas only get an honorable mention nod this year being tied for 2nd in the league in total tackles and 2nd in solo tackles??

Seeing the stats from the game with UWSP the Knights have learned from the Dutch winning when you don't win the stat battle.  Not a swipe and the Knights just glad they won.  From listening to it on the radio it never seemed like the Knights were in trouble and yet from seeing the stats if you didn't know the game you would have thought the Knights were in trouble or pulled off a late win.  The Knights did the IIAC proud and congrats on the big win.  Good luck on beating the Scots this coming Saturday.  I don't think I will make that trip with family being here for the holiday but if you get to play the Warhawks I will be there and try to talk my Knight son into the trip if he does not have to man the ER in Des Moines that Saturday.

Congrats to Wartburg for a great win over UW-Stevens Point.  Just read the press release from the UW-Stevens coach "you don't change the things (pressure defense) that got you there."  Big mistake, everyone one in the Iowa Conference knows you are going to see those - d--- rocket screens every game from the Knights.  The knights will kill you with them if you don't plan for them.  Hope I don't jinks you, I pick Wartburg for a win next Saturday. Its fun playing football in December, i.e. Central last year.  I wish you could play a game in the INI dome.  It would be rocket-ville all night.

Parking should not be as much of an issue this weekend, as the students will be away on break.  This might make for an interesting fan base comparison.  Sounds like the Wartburg fans travel in droves, which is awesome.  The Monmouth crowd was not as large I would have hoped for, and they sat on their hands during most of the Aurora game...probably because it was over quickly.  Looking forward to an exciting game.

Congratulations to you, DBQ1965, on a fine, honorable profession. I'm sure you were a credit to it. Having preached in 80 churches, you clearly touched many lives in a positive way.

Speaking of churches, that nutjob church from Kansas apparently is coming out to Oregon to protest the politics of a town near Salem. Silverton elected an openly transgender mayor, and they are happy with their choice. I don't get why those Kansas wackos feel the need to bring their hatred out here to demonstrate about it.

Can't the rest of you put a fence around them?

OK, I've got another question for you guys, and this one is football related. Well, at least IIAC-related.

A few days ago I noticed that one of the posters used some word, then said something to the effect of, "Look it up, Cornell fans." Is Cornell supposed to be lower academically than the rest of the IIAC schools?

What are other differences between the IIAC schools? In the NWC we're pretty much the same except for Menlo, which is not a good fit academically with the rest of the conference. Menlo is much lower. The rest all have great reputations and are reasonably similar. The IIAC is larger, however, so you have more room for variety. Do certain schools have certain reputations?

Another question, and this is a football one, is about Coach Willis. What's with the comments about him being the guy people love to hate? There seems to be some controversy about him, and why he didn't get COY. Other people seems to think it's a no-brainer that he didn't get it.

I'm not looking for an argument here. I like the IIAC and I'm curious.

Cornell is actually "supposed" to be the smartest school in the IIAC.  Most posters will throw some big word in their post, and say "look it up Coe fans" becauase Coe used to have the reputation of the worst academic school in the conference.  There used to be a song that goes a little like this - If you can't go to college, go to Coe (in the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know it").  In reality, the schools are quite similar in academic standard, with some having better departments then other schools - for instance - i know Coe is near the top or at the top for Econ (conference and country), Athletic Training, Teaching, and Nursing.  Each school has their strenght or weakness

Personally, I haven't like Willis since i was recruited.  He was quite arrogent about the whole process, and said some harsh things about the program and coach (Raeburn and Willis hated eachother) i ended up choosing (Coe).  I had heard of multiple examples of this after being on campus and sharing my experience with Willis.  As far as teh COY this year - Anderson from BV did more with the talent and expectations people in the conference had about that team.  Wartburg was expected to be number 1 - BV was expected to finsih probably 6th.  Thats just the way things fall sometimes.  Wartburg won the conference this year true, but they didnt exactly run away with it or go undefeated.  the voting probably would have been different had they gone undefeated.

Thanks, TME. Now I get it.

Occasionally someone will bring up inviting one of the smaller state schools (Eastern Oregon) into the NWC, and the response is usually that the state schools aren't a good fit with the rest of the conference. I think the NWC is probably on a par with the IIAC.

Wrong state there Coco.  We had to get rid of him for protesting when they were burying our dead service people here in Iowa.  We had trouble with that group when we lost a member of our church.  Just hope that the nut job will get his somehow.  He gives people of faith a bad name.

Good question.  On the conference stat page, it looks like he's second only to UD's Laskowski.  110 total tackles for Laskowski and next is Calvin with 97, followed by Tate with 92.   ???

DF2004,

I know the IIAC isn't in Kansas. I just meant that they are in your neighborhood in the Midwest. It's unfortunate that they have to protest against so many people and institutions, and so violently.
