I think it's great to have all the Cornell posters on here.  I think that they should be propud of the turn around of that program.

I believe what Ram-This was suggesting was that people in glass houses should not throw stones. In other words, the Warts have no business criticizing Coe's non-conference opponents when theirs, historically, have been no better.

Aurora was no match for Coe, obviously, but give the Kohawks some credit for executing. Bobby Demoulin was flawless in his second start and Thunder and Lightning (Northern and Suckow) gave a preview of what IIAC foes will face this season. The defense pitched a shutout, which is no small accomplishment no matter who the opponent is. All in all, it was a perfect tuneup for the conference opener at Luther.

CooCoo,

I have congratulated Cornell.  I think its great.  Lets face it.  Cornell is why the IIAC is still over 500 in the preseason.

I think you missed my point.  What I was getting at is that you and dutchfan1 seem to be the only ones representing Central, and Charlie and I are the only ones for Coe.  I meant to say that there should be more Central and Coe fans making posts.  My criticism of Central fans is not aimed at you as you are their best and most avid poster.  No offence is meant towards dutchfan1 or Charlie as well, for that matter.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Don't let pat confuse you about Northwestern.  Northwestern beat Augsburg 31-24 7, but it easily could have been more lopsided with 2 of the augsburg's touchdowns coming in the last minute of the first half.

Cornell played very well to beat Northwestern.  Watch out for those Rams.

Pat Coleman

The last minute of the first half is usually when the game is still in doubt, isn't it?

Now that this non-conference stuff is over, we can get down to business. I predict a road-kill weekend in the IIAC -- road wins by Coe, Central, Wartburg and (dare I say?) Cornell.

Do your research pat, 2 touchdowns in the last minute due to a fumble on a kickoff return, taking advantage of a freshman cornerback 3 plays in a row to end the half, Augsburg gets outscored 19-0 in the third quarter and Northwestern plays conservative in the fourth.

The whole point was in boosting cornell rather than trying to minimize their recent success.

My point exactly.

That's a great goal -- however, you can't POSSIBLY just blow off scores in the second quarter! Give me a break!

Oh right, this from the person who thought his team was competitive with St. John's (in reality a 57-7 loss) because of a second-quarter score. So football games are only 15 minutes for you.

Pat, are you making the argument that Northwestern is competitive with St. John's?  I'd say you are, as you say that you can't blow off second quarter scores.  I'm not saying that Augsburg wasn't competitve.  Northwestern didn't score in the second half for cornell for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't mean the game wasn't still competitive throughout the game.

Pat Coleman

No, I'm not.

I'm saying you can't blow off scoring plays that occur in the second quarter. If it were garbage time (which is at the end of the game, in case you aren't aware) then that might be one thing, but you cannot blow off scoring plays at the end of the second quarter.

Why don't you guys take this outside? Or at least outside of this board.
