dutchfan1,

I have two suggestions:

1) A framed copy of the picture taken at a 2005 Wartburg game. The photo featured DutchFan1, Coco, Walston Hoover and Warthog.  Tell him the three thugs in the picture are your God Fathers and if doesn't treat you right, he has to answer to us.

2) A membership to the Wartburg Knight Booster Club.  (It comes with a couple free passes to Wartburg athletic events.)

Warthog -- do you have a copy of that pic? If so, send it my way via email! I love that pic, but I can't find my copy!

He's not Iowa Conference affiliated...if pressed, he will pledge his love and devotion to this girl's favorite school. Go Dutch!  ;)

That's a great idea Warty has. You can tell him that those trim young studs with the abs of steel are your protectors.

We may have a copy of that picture here. I'll ask Mrs. C.

1a. Do you guys have any gift ideas for a guy that I started seeing a month ago? He's cool, but I'm not ready to put down serious money on a gift for him just yet....any sure-thing gift ideas for me?

The real question is...is he ready to put down any serious cash on a gift for you?  You already like football...what more could that dude want?  But then, getting him a nice beer mug for his favorite team...communicates that you support him in his love for the game and care enough to make sure he has an adequate vessel to store his beer; and from which, to take care of the tremendous thirst he develops while watching the game.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Nope that was not me.  I was an olineman.  I came to BV around 230 and bloomed to 275.  I also grew an inch and a half.  I guess I was the late bloomer.  All that weight and growing in a matter of 14 months could have contributed to my ankle blowing out and my leg breaking vertically

Ouch, that hurts just reading that!    Hopefully you were able to fully recover from that and don't have any lingering effects from that break.  My wife can tell whenever we are about to get a big rain or snow storm from a leg of hers that was broken many many years ago.

I guess we now know how Mrs Heys reeled in PH :D

A favorite saying of mine:  Reality is for those who lack imagination.

The 'correct' saying (from the 60s) is "Reality is just a crutch for those who can't handle drugs." ;D

I was in college in the early 60's ... and back on campus as a faculty member in the late 60's.  Early, the drug of choice was alcohol.  Late it was -- well, you name it.

But more important ... early and late ... we were focused on anit-war and civil rights.  Four decade later, nothing has changed.

My apologies.  I always respect my elders - there just aren't many on the boards! :o :(

I was in college in the late 60s, then faculty from the early 70s to mid 00s.  Yes, alcohol has always been drug #1, and probably always will be (sometimes rivaled by weed).  What most 'young-uns' don't realize is that the drug part of the 60s was actually the 70s for most of the country (maybe 68-80?).

Things certainly HAD changed, but activism may be coming back. ;)

Mr. Ypsi ...

I guess that makes us two of the "old guys" on here.  Glad to have you.

I think its worth clicking on this link just to see UD's "snowball" and a Christmas glimpse of the press box at Moco Mercer Stadium at Chalmers Field.

dutchfan1:

I've sent the photo to the e-mail address I have for you.  There will be two e-mails.  The first one was sent by accident.  It features Mr. & Mrs. Coco, Mr. & Mrs. Warthog and some guy named Romano.  Romano was visiting from Italy and was at the Mississippi lock and dam at the same time we were.  When we asked his host to take a picture of us, Romamo just jumped into the picture.  It has added some character and a good story to the photo over the years.

By the way:

Congratulations to my Wartburg Knights for going from a "no show" to #10 on the D3.com final top 25 rankings.

I'd say that's a pretty good coaching job by the KNight's staff, but apparently its not even the best coaching job in the state this year :'(
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Three topics of discussion to drive the conversation around here over the next week now that the D3 season is officially over:

1.  What are you hoping to get for Christmas?  Are you particularly proud of anything that you bought for somone else?

2.  How did your fantasy football team(s) do this season?  Any champions around here?

3.  How about your favorite NFL team?  I imagine we'll have plenty of Viking/Bear/Packer fans on this board, although you never know.

Been away from the office for awhile since I took this whole week off for vacation.  Headed to Chicago on Sunday and have just been staying at a college buddies place relaxing and enjoying Chicago-style hot dogs.

1. I really haven't bought anything special.  I pretty much had to tell the girlfriend to go make a "wish list" at the jewelry store so I knew exactly what to get.  I have been presently surprised by my "gifts" so far.  Got a GPS which I kind of always wanted, but I knew I would never buy one for myself.  Has already been great on my trip to IL.  Also got a Chicago Bears Championship banner.  Saw it in a store and told my friend "I will have that hanging in my house some day"...so he bought it for me.  My parents gave me an early gift of Vikings/Packers and Vikings/Bears tickets this NFL season.  But my best gift so far, wasn't really a gift.  I won an all-inclusive trip for two to the Dominican Republic.  Drinking all those PBR's during bowling league paid off I guess.

2. The "Jack Me Hoffs" finished 4th in my one money league...Giants Def. hurt me this week while Colston and Gonzalez did big things for my opponent.  2nd in my just for fun yahoo league and tied in the consolation bracket in a league with some college friends.  Overall, not what I wanted but could have been worse.

3. THE BEARS!  Last nights game was PERFECT.  Still a little upset at some play calling, but at least they are doing what they need to do if they want a chance at the post season.

Wishing everyone on here a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I hope to get a meat bundle for Christmas again. That gift never gets old

I think a Luther fan hacked into WH's account...

Nice to see a DIII guy in the NFL getting some props from a National Sportswriter!

Easterbrook's is one of only a small handful of NFL columns I read each week.

1.  Got the wife/family a minivan.  Yep, I'm officially domesticated!

2.  Championship for the Bad News Beavers!  Won one league and placed 5th in the other.  DeAngelo Williams prevented my 2nd championship in the 1st week of the playoffs.  I was up 31 points and the other guy only had Williams.  Tampa Bay decides tackling is optional on Monday night and Williams pulls 33 points out of his arse.  Needless to say I would've won the other matchups, but had to win the consolation bracket instead.

3.  D-O-L-P-H-I-N-S!!!  It's been an unreal season (actually watching NFL Networks replay of this week's game vs K.C. right now), but for some terrible reason, I don't know if they can win in New York this week. A 1-15 season will do that to you I guess.  Still pretty amazing that they can go from 1 win to at least 10 this year.  Win and we're in!

Menefee also added that Freddie was his fav NFL player

Well of course, Menefee is also a Coe graduate.

So is Fred Hickman.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!
