He would know after breaking his hip on the ice last year.
I am amazed at how much better I can move on the ice with them. And I've already had the opportunity to test them out since Christmas day.
Someone needs to invent those for tires.

They have, they are called chains ;)
I thought of that, But something thinner that you wouldn't feel the rumble in your car.

Good point.  Or have to worry about coming lose and screwing up your car!!!

They have, they're called studded tires, alhough I think they're not allowed for most if not all of you in the Lower 48.

You are correct.  They are very nice but not allowed due to the fact that the chew up the streets.

After a bad day of picks, not only is my confidence shaken, but I am forced to concede the IIAC challenge championship. Klop has eliminated me. In an effort to not start the New Year as a loser, I quit today.

I want to thank my family and friends for all their support. To those teams I picked that won, a big thanks, as I couldn't have done it without you. To the teams I picked that lost, YOU JUST SUCK!

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Be safe tonight everybody.  :)
Its a dangerous walk from the couch to the bedroom.
Not much going on here tonight. From some talks with a lot of people, it sounds like its going to be a pretty tame new year celebration. I don't think too many people are sad to see 2008 end, especially in my industry.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Anyone headed to Iowa City for the New Year?  I'm headed to the Mill to see Dave Zollo.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

The Mill is the first bar I ever went to in Iowa City.  Post game against UCLA in 1981.  I was 13 and I thought the euphoria of the Hawkeye win might let me sneak a beer past my parents.  That didn't happen.  The next season my sister was at Iowa and we most often went to the Vine after that.

Hope everybody has a safe holiday.  We are going with the WH type party tonight.  And I doubt we are still awake by midnight.  Though I did just talk to some friends from a bar in Tampa.  From the sound of it they won't be feeling too good around kickoff tomorrow.  And I won't feel sorry for them!!!

I'm headed to bed. Stayed up later than normal tonight. Happy New Year everyone.

New Year's Eve = Amateur Night

You took the words out of my mouth.  Great line SK.  Me and the wife went to dinner with the cousin and her husband and then went to hers/his place for some after dinner martinis.  I love ringing in the New Year in a safe household with good friends.

No matter what industry you are you in, I wish you all the best of luck in 2009.  There are a lot of things to be thankful for.

I will take a wild guess that all of us still posting have jobs, there are some hard times, but look at the bright side, mortgage rates are ready to hit an all time low.

So first time home buyers like me and the Mrs. are in prime shape and others should have a chance to re-fianance where applicable.

2009 will be the year that BV gets the game breaker they need to take the conference.

Telegraph that one in!!!!

BTW:  GO HAWKS!!!  T-minus 5 hours till my bowl game cooking begins.  Any fat man would want to be in my condo in the morning!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I beat WH to bed last night. Saw no point in being up after 11:00. I wish everyone health and wealth in 2009. Even to ShowMe.

I stayed up to see the new year, but that was about it.  Did flip over to ABC just in time to see Dick Clark do the countdown at 11, which was very cool.  Right up until that schmuck Ryan Seacrest opened his mouth and tried to say that everyone in Time's Square was singing "Auld Lang Syne" despite the fact that it was clearly "New York, New York" blaring through the Times Square speakers.

Settling in for the Iowa game right now.  Our boy press_box has been in Tampa all week, and has been blogging about his experience at http://kcrgsports.wordpress.com/ if you're looking for some pregame reading material.

If it wasn't clear to everybody already, I now own the title of Mr. Stupid.  I did the bowl pick-em backwards.  I put Iowa at #1 instead of #34  >:( >:( >:(

Oh well, I wasn't going to win the thing anyway!!!
