I'm not joking one little bit when I say that I'd give my left nut to see Springsteen in concert.  And Lefty is my favorite of the pair.

The Boss is going to be in Chicago and St. Paul in May, so I'm going to try to catch one of those shows.  U2 will probably be going on tour this year too, and if I could see them both in the same calendar year, that would be pretty effing cool.

See these guys while you can.  Before I got married and had kids I saw U2, the Stones, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam and others.  After we had kids, my concert going has been limited to...the Wiggles.  Even more worrisome is I have found myself listening to their cd in the car...when my kids weren't riding with me :o

A recent encouraging sign though is my oldest daughter now telling me she wants to go to football and basketball games with me.  So I at least have that going for me...which is good ;)

Saw the Boss in '82 and '87. Unbelievable. Legend has it that in '87 he went to the State Gym at ISU and worked out for 2hrs. AFTER the show.

U2 is going on tour this year, too? I hadn't heard that, but I would definitely see them live! I doubt they get anywhere close to the DSM.

Doolittle-

What is the date of these numbers (12/31/08)?  I'm only asking b/c I was talking to guy "in the know" at Simpson and there #s are SIGNIFICANTLY lower than $79MM....plus there was a large amount of money in private equity and real estate investments (very illiquid) which had not been revalued.  Also, I'm hearing Central's is down pretty good too from the $81MM.

Just curious on the time frame.  For the ones w/ endowments > $70MM, I bet you could subtract $20-25MM and be close to the current levels.

I don't think they've announced anything for sure yet, but with their new CD coming out in a month, it would greatly surprise if they don't tour to support it.  Especially since I don't think they did a US tour to back "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb."

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

You never know if they will play Iowa. The time they played at Cyclone Staduim traffic was backed up all the way past Ankeny. I think numbers like that could bring them back again.
