coe scores td with 5:16 to play. Luther blocks the extra point. 16 - 10 coe.

Storm-what?

Well, we had a great game in Indianola for 3 quarters. Going in to the 4th quarter it was 7-10 Wartburg.

The Storm seemed to give up after one big play and it ended up 31-7 Wartburg. I guess I have to admit defeat and that I was wrong about the Storm "D". They played great when they played but they gave up too early.   :'(
Rocky start for Simpson fans. We MUST win the next two weeks with Cornell and BV.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Road Warrior Weekend in the IIAC as three of the four winners were road teams.

Hey all-
Back from Indianola, some thoughts.
Wartburg got stronger as the game went on. Only 140 some odd total yards for the Storm.
Just 11 in the 4th quarter. Simpsons D1 dropout qb has a lot of work to do. He is VERY shaky.
Wartburg's ave starting field position was the Simpson 49. Simpsons ave start was their own 23. That's a huge difference.
Bauder didn't put up huge numbers, but it was enough to get the job done.
Wartburg's secondary has to be about the best since the '03 team. They looked very good.
O-line started off shaky, but again got a lot stronger as the game went on.
Did UD expose Cornell today? Will Cornell win a game the rest of the year?
Coe's close game over Luther didn't surprise me much. Sets up a huge showdown in Wave-town next week. Join 6,000 of your closest Lutheran friends for the 1:00 start.
Central got BV about like they should.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Tough day for the Rams today.  Havent heard any other scores, havent heard from anybody from Cornell even.  All I know is that Dubuque has one hell of an athletic football team and discipline is key to beating them...I think this week will be crucial to the rest of Cornell's season.  Time to regroup and get ready for next week.  Does anyone know the status of QB Ryan Mills?  I saw he didnt play..how soon will we see him back in the lineup?

Congrats to all that won today..and good luck this week to everyone.

Big win in Iowa City today!

Good games this week and I guess I did jinx Cornell.  Congrats to all the winners this week.  Must have been a great game up in Decorah.

Congrats to Dubuque on playing a good football game today and the win. It did hurt not having Ryan Mills at QB today. His decision making and composure is incredible. That being said, that didn't lose the game for us today. Cornell ran 84 plays to Dubuques 54 I believe they had. We were 5-18 on 3rd down!! They scored on the big plays and we didn't make any plays. We were flat as could be coming out. Dubuque came out intense and hit us in the mouth first. It was very frustrating to watch because it didn't even look like the same team from the past two weeks. Dubuque has to have the fastest defense in the conference and the fastest/quickest player in walner bellus. I'm interested to see how the rams bounce back from this loss. I believe this is a different program and they'll work their ass of this week and play better against Simpson. Good Luck the rest of the season Dubuque. Congrats to all the other winners in the Conference.

Ash Park,

Would you say that there was no fire?  Or did DU just kind of put the hurt on early and never let up?

That was one heck of a college football game in Decorah this afternoon. Congratulations Kohawks and hats off to the Norse for a game played well, even if not always well played. I expected a shootout, but as the score reflects, the defenses came to play. I'm certain the stiff wind was a factor, but I was impressed how Coe's defense -- the perceived weak link -- stood tall against Luther's potent offense and tall receivers.

Zach Nosbisch led the way with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery he doesn't appear to have gotten credit for. On special teams, Clint Hospodarsky is an absolute terror. Many of Bobby's passes were off target -- a result of the wind -- and there were far too many dropped balls, but Ashton Northern carried the team on his back with 100 yards on 18 carries and another 87 on eight receptions. Neil Suckow was his usual electric self, gaining 95 yards on 15 carries, with 65 coming on a touchdown run at the end of the first quarter.

I was nervous about this game, but I'm pleased with the outcome. For the record, I was also 3-1 in picks this weekend with my only miss coming on Dubuque's blowout of Cornell.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

To be honest it was a little of both. The first quarter was basically an abortion but I wouldn't say that dubuque never let up. We had our chances and not to take anything away from Dub. b/c they made the big plays and we didn't, but it wasn't a dominant win in my opinion. The score is a little deceiving I guess. Dubuque is a good team and as long as they play as a team they will be tough.

Charlie Sorry I missed your picks I will add them to the list.

What a great treat to have John Chandler, the A.D. doing the color commentating during the Kohawk broadcast.  Now he has three careers he does very well.

There is a rumor that someone very familiar to us all will be doing the color next week.  If so I will make sure I bring a radio to K. Ray this weekend.   Maybe a little shout out for Pat and the boys on the air next weekend.
