My wife running a daycare meant I was bannished to the upstairs...with no computer.  The plus side was I was able to watch ESPN all day...in between naps.

No laptop and a wireless home network?

I keep telling my wife that is what we need next out here.  We shall see.

Do you ever work?  ESPN, naps, being banned to the upstairs.  You have the good life.  Well except for the apple orchard runs and the Wiggles CD's in  your car.

Yesterday I was listening to the local morning show, and they were laughing about the KidzBop CD's -- you know, where kids sing the Top 40-style hits (sometimes in a more kid-friendly version for a child audience.) Anyway, I chuckled the entire walk to work, thinking that Doolittle HAD to have some of those in his minivan. :)

You guessed right.  I grind my teeth every time my wife puts them in.  Though, I do like the Rockabye baby CD's they have out.  Instrumental lullaby CD's of Nirvana and Led Zep and others.  It's quite funny to listen to.  And makes me hopefull that as my kids age they will think back to their early dream time and get into rock...and not that pop stuff like the Jonas Bros and Hannah Montana.

Now, if my son can channel his enthusiasm for tackling daddy (good technique, wraps the legs) and gets into football, I will probably be ok if one or more of my kids likes pop music.  On another note, my son is currently refusing to wear anything other than red sweatshirts...so maybe he is leaning towards Central at this early age ;D

If I were the parent right now, this crap is where I would draw the line.  Probably invoke the "as long as I don't have to listen to it" rule that my dad enforced for rap music in his house, where there are probably still dozens of pairs of headphones sitting in a drawer somewhere.

Spend most of Saturday with the staff of Blue Valley HS. They've got a good thing going there.

Blue Valley NW?  My cousin was the QB for them this past year.  There are usually a couple D1 athletes on their roster every year.

Walston,

With baby coming in June I didn't have much time to mess with trying to get it sold  and close on new one before she gets here.  It's hard enough to show a home with a dog and a child, can't imagine doing it with two little ones.
Also, 3 homes in my subdivision went up for sale last weekend so I was trying to beat the rush.

What BV school were you here to visit?  I think there are 4 or 5 of them now.  I pay very little attention to high school sports down here, but have been to the BV West "campus" and it would make some D3 schools jealous.

You were probably at the old chicago that was in front of a Best Buy and wal-mart?

What QB did you wax @ darts?

KCDutch,

where did you move to? I need some ideas.  We've been looking to move off and on for past year- i managed to sell my house in 13 days so now I'm really under the gun to find something.  We're looking OP, Olathe, Lenexa
DD-

Well, I actually moved back to IA and its been a bit of culture/weather shock!  Not sure the wife would agree to move back again!

Personally, I like the K-10/K-7 corridor in Olathe (lots of nice homes and close to Smiley's Golf Range and Falcon Ridge/Falcon Valley golf courses).  I lived about 5-10 minutes from Smileys and loved hitting golf balls under the lights during the summer, but I like to golf.  Plus, Olathe NW is probably the best high school in Olathe.

In Lenexa, I like the area around 87th/435.....there are some really nice new homes just west (parkhurst I think) or some older homes just NE of the intersection.  I have no real opinions of homes in OP, its all pretty nice but I prefer the areas I mentioned.  Good luck house hunting.

Well, Waverly is closer to us than Pella...plus we are Lutheran...and from my side of the family anyway, the closer the proximity to bars the better.  Though as a parent now, I wouldn't be pushing that in the college choice to my kids.  And that is one reason the choice of Dubuque would scare my wife ;D

I might just tell my kids "any place but Loras"  and see how it goes!!!

So, uh, any news on spring practice...incoming recruits...stuff like that???  WillieU, where are you???  I need your UD updates!!!

The Original Blue Valley. The Tigers. Every time they get too big they form another offshoot according to their coaches. They are getting close to 1500 students so will be doing that again soon. Too bad WDM Valley doesn't do that with their 2000+ kids

Chuck Hartlieb is our QB coach so as an OL coach, me and him butt heads quite frequently. Kain and I had to show him what was up in darts.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

WH:   Blue Valley is a nice layout.  Our nephew played there.  His dad (Mrs. Warthog's brother) tried to convince him to go to Wartburg, but he thought it was too small time and tried walking on at KU.  It didn't workout for him and after being cannon fodder for his freshman year he hung up the cleats.  He and Little Warthog are the same age.  I think he could have had a decent career with the Knights.  He was an offensive tackle between the size of Little Warthog's old suitemate Jeff V. and Andy H.

I want to report that there was a confirmed sighting of sportsknight at Cornell College tonight.  The rumor that he is being held captive and used as a sex toy by a group of Loras and UD co-eds is greatly exaggerated.

doolittledog:

Mrs. Warthog was reading over my shoulder and saw that your son may be leaning towards Central at his young age. The worst part is, you don't appear to be doing anything to stop it.

I'm sorry to inform you that as a teacher she is a mandatory abuse reporter.  You have left her with few choices other than to contact DHS.

If you promise to point him towards the northwest every morning and have him repeat the phrase, "I want to be orange!", she will hold off on the call.

I don't know if I'd go that far.  Didn't you notice how big a hurry I was to leave after the game got over.  Had to be back to "work" by 10:00.  ;D
